I hope we get to play NKU at some point in that tournament. I don't really care about any of the other schools, but at least we get three guaranteed games out of it.

Not playing season for an "At Large" anymore ... just a chance to win some ball games. ONLY way to the "BIG Dance" anymore is win the MVC tourney and maybe, just maybe, win the league regular season if you don't. Hard to hear but true !
I partially agree. But if winning the conference tournament is the only way to make it in to the big dance, then I say I would rather play some name teams. Otherwise, why schedule Purdue or any other major if we are just looking for wins

Disappointing field outside of Toledo and East Carolina
We really aren't "above" anybody in that field save for KC and UTA.

But I agree with everyone here, I'm ready to just win some damn games and build some momentum with this program. That tournament field isn't great but it does look like it could provide 3 solid games for us with a chance to win the damn thing.

Next season we're going to have 20 MVC games I believe, so that will leave us with 11 NC games, instead of the usual 13. So far we're at 5 with Green Bay, Miami OH, and 3 MTE games. I'm sure Ball State will be on the schedule, so there's number 6. We'll probably get the two annual non-D1 snooze fest games, so that makes 8. So there's maybe three D1 games we don't know about yet. We were supposed to play a road game at Northern Illinois last season that was covid cancelled, so I wonder if they will be on the schedule. Then there's the annual ass whooping at Purdue we seem to enjoy taking. Maybe for our 11th game we can bring up the Screaming Eagles from Evansville. Oh and I almost forgot about our annual cross town rivalry exhibition game with Rose Hulman.

To be honest, I wish we could just play 22 MVC games, to bring our NC schedule down to 9. Most of the games we play in the non-conference I couldn't care less about. Ball State is interesting, I think USI could be interesting if we were to schedule them, Eastern Illinois would be a good local game, any of the Summit MVFC schools / Youngstown would definitely draw my interest (NDSU the last two seasons).

This would probably be my preferred schedule with 11 NC games:
1) Money game @ P5 school.
2) Ball State
3) Eastern Illinois
4) Southern Indiana
5) IUPUI
6) Ft Wayne
7) Western Illinois
8) Youngstown State
9-11) MTE

Keep it local and play historic rivals, in-state schools, and the two somewhat MVFC schools. I'm sick of the stupid D2 games and the SWAC schools. It shouldn't be that hard to schedule h/h's with those 7 schools that Hautians would at least recognize. I'm sure every school on that list would be interested in h/h's with us.

Do NOT schedule USI. This only gives them more credibility. They could probably beat us and I for one don't want to lose to two schools a year in Evansville. I imagine IU and Purdue fans feel the same way in playing us. They have nothing to gain and everything to lose.

I know scheduling is a bitch, but if it looked something like this every year I would be ecstatic year in and year out. Low travel against teams people would recognize and pay attention too.

1. Ball State
2. one of ND, PU, IU, Butler (this is the hardest spot to fill except for Purdue seems to enjoy our yearly beatdowns).
3. one of IUPUI, IPFW, Eastern ILL, Western Illinois or Southern IN
4. Regionally solid mid-major (Wright State, St. Louis, Green Bay, NKU, Toledo, Oakland, Western Kentucky, MTSU, Ohio, Loyola, etc.)
5. Your P5 money games (Louisville, Xavier, Kentucky, Illinois, Michigan, hell anybody in the country willing to pay)
6. Your SWAC/MEAC level game
7. MTE
8. MTE
9. MTE
10. Non D1 snoozer no one gives a shit about
11. Any top 175 team you can find.

it'll be a cold day over the Styx the next time Michelle Bray or the Loosiers deign to play the Trees considering their collective beat down ON THE ROAD

One thing some of you are forgetting is most of the P5 conferences plan to up their conference games so they don't have to schedule MMs anymore. So eventually in the future when that is going the only time we're likely to get a sniff is our previous year RPI/BPI was really, really bad. We'll see 18 become the standard, then 20 and then eventually 20+ as they try to freeze out more MM squads from tournament funds.
