Plays on the same AAU squad as fellow offer Josh Oglesby. Has offers from Albany, Arizona State, Creighton, Iowa State and Northern Iowa in addition to State.

Sounds like a good one, but you gotta wonder if we have a realistic shot at him. In UNI's backyard, offer from Iowa State, likes Creighton. Hmmm, I hope we could lure him away (if what I've read is accurate), but it sure seems like a longshot...

Legitimate concerns ITF, but I'm glad to see that we're offering guys that big schools and winners in our conference our looking at. Even if we DON'T get him, our name is out there...and it's not like offering a potentially great player hurts us unless we're down to our last scholie for the upcoming year and still have glaring needs. I like it.

You are certainly right. I wasn't really intending to question the offering of a scholie, just thinking out loud about our chances. I love it when we're going against the "big boys" for recruits. One of these days we'll get one. And then another. And another.

Thanks for pointing that out!

Ah, gotcha! I know so many people who think that because we're Indiana State, we shouldn't even offer them...which I just hate. You are right, though. Someday, a big time recruit is gonna go, "You know what, I can put them over the top." The team just has to capitalize when that happens a la Gonzaga and Butler to build consistent success.

At Monday’s open gym the 6′8 junior forward scrimmaged with his teammates as he was watched by Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery, Iowa assistant coach Andrew Francis, Butler assistant coach Matthew Graves, Iowa State assistant coach Jeff Rutter, Creighton assistant coach Darian Devries, and Notre Dame assistant coach Martin Ingelsby.

"Jarrod Uthoff is crisscrossing the Midwest this week, picking up offers as he goes.

Stu Ordman, Uthoff's coach at Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Jefferson High School, said the 6-8 junior received a scholarship offer on an unofficial visit to Butler on Wednesday. He also visited Indiana on Wednesday after picking up an offer from the Hoosiers last week.

Uthoff visited Northern Iowa earlier in the week and planned to visit Notre Dame and Illinois before heading home.

"The comparison you hear a lot from other coaches about his game is that he's a lot like (Iowa native and Utah Jazz guard) Kyle Korver," Ordman said. "He's long and lanky and can really shoot the ball. We play in arguably the toughest conference in the state and needed him to play the post for us, but he could go out and shoot the 3."

Uthoff averaged 21 points and 10 rebounds as a junior and was named first team all-state. In addition to Butler and Indiana, his offer list includes Arizona State, Creighton, Indiana State, Iowa State, Northern Colorado and Northern Iowa, with interest from several other schools."

He plans to visit Minnesota and Wisconsin sometime in June. Uthoff is also a very good student and will be visiting Harvard in the next month. Those three schools have not offered, but there is a good possibility that will happen on those visits. He already holds offers from a long list of schools including Iowa State, Northern Iowa, Creigthon, Indiana State, Butler, Illinois, Indiana, and Arizona State.

No visit and it looks like he could make a decision by mid summer.

"I hope to have things narrowed down or perhaps make my decision by the end of June," he said. "If I find the perfect school for me after narrowing it down, I will probably make my decision."

JARROD UTHOFF – 6’8” – F – IOWA BARNSTORMERS
One of the most coveted talents on the board in the 2011 class with a game that continues to generate more and more interest, Uthoff hit jumpers, played solid defense, was active on the glass, and dominated on times around the basket. One of the most underrated talents in the country, Uthoff has been very impressive so far.

Northwestern = Big 10 Bottom Feeder
Virginia = ACC Bottom Feeder

Come be a Sycamore and be an MVC title contender!

Jarrod will apparently give a verbal commitment to his school of choice tonight or tomorrow morning. Wants to wrap it up. Looks like a two way race between Iowa and Wisconsin -- looks like he wants to be a Big 10 kid.
