-Despite earning virtually every award imaginable at defensive end as a junior, Arrowhead's Blake Mattson (6-3, 200) is essentially an outside linebacker for the Warhawks who serves in much the same capacity as former all-state selection and current University of Minnesota linebacker Joey Balthazor.
Mattson is even similar to Balthazor in regard to seeing his fair share of college recruiting interest too with early recruiting looks coming from Northwestern, Purdue, Indiana, Stanford, Northern Illinois, Indiana State, Illinois State, St. Cloud State and Winona State.
A defensive play maker all over the field for the Warhawks last season, Mattson tallied 86 total tackles, nine sacks, six tackles for loss, five fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles, five pass deflections and one blocked punt as a junior.
He was named WFCA honorable-mention all-state, WFCA all-region, Lake Country Publications first-team all-area, Waukesha Freeman first-team all-Waukesha County, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel honorable-mention all-area and first-team all-conference for his efforts.
