Lawrence North forward Sam Logwood, who will be a junior in the fall, picked up his first scholarship offer this week, from Miami of Ohio.

"They saw me play in Merrillville (last weekend) and said they liked my athleticism," said Logwood, a 6-6, 200-pound forward.

Indiana and Purdue also have shown interest, as well as a number of other schools: Ball State, Dayton, Evansville, Indiana State, IPFW, IUPUI, Loyola (Ill.), Michigan, Valparaiso, Wichita State and Xavier

5. Sam Logwood: 6’6” Small Forward, La Lumiere School

Offers: Miami (OH), Radford, IUPUI, Buffalo, New Orleans, IUPUI, Indiana State, Auburn, Bradley

Interest: Purdue, Xavier, Dayton, Creighton, UNC-Greensburo, Detroit, Indiana, Michigan State

Sam had a great summer and showed why he may become a Top 100 player at some point before graduation. He is super strong and athletic which lets him score inside and rebound. Sam also is a pretty good perimeter shooter. He is at his best when able to get out and run in transition; he handles the ball very well and explodes to the rim. I love his all-around offensive game. Tremendous upside.

Auburn is his only BCS offer -- the Miami is Miami of Ohio. Will be interesting if he wants to stay close to home so his parents can see him play or not. He had been at Lawrence North before he left to La Lumiere upstate. Gonna guess that was to get more looks since they play a national schedule.

More on Bryant McIntosh picking ISU, he told me he will be recruiting Mack Mercer, Sam Logwood, Tyler Wideman, & Scott Lindsey (IL) to ISU

2014 wing Sam Logwood might not always standout on a stat sheet, or in a highlight tape, but rest assured that he was the primary reason why his La Lumiere (Ind.) Academy team was able to finish the long weekend 2-0. First, in a game against Huntington (W.Va.) Prep, Logwood was excellent defensively as he locked up the nation's top amateur prospect, Andrew Wiggins. Following that, Logwood took more of an offensive approach as he athletically slashed through the lane to torch Dayton (Oh.) Trotwood Madison.

The 6-foot-5 shooting guard, who can also play small forward, is a three-star prospect who should continue to generate more and more interest at the mid- and high-major level. Dayton, Xavier, Saint Bonaventure and several other schools all were in the gym this weekend to track his progress.

Logwood's interest rising

Sam Logwood has made a successful transition from Lawrence North to La Lumiere more quickly than even his coach would have predicted. The 6-6 junior is averaging a team-leading 19 points for 22-2 La Lumiere, which is ranked No. 6 nationally by USA Today.

"We thought it was going to happen for him his senior year and this would be the transition year," La Lumiere coach Alan Huss said. "Obviously he's exceeded expectations."

Logwood has transitioned from primarily an interior player at Lawrence North to a wing at La Lumiere, a prep school in LaPorte, Ind.

"I came in as a (power forward) so from the time I got here I've been trying to get comfortable on the wing," he said. "It's a hard transition but I feel like I'm getting there. My ballhandling and vision are improving."

Huss said Logwood is a major Division I player. So far, he has offers from Auburn, Buffalo, Indiana State, IUPUI, Miami (Ohio), New Orleans and Radford. Other schools have been in contact, including Iowa, Missouri, New Mexico, Oregon, Purdue, VCU and Xavier.

247 Sports having given him a 3-star ranking. They have listed him at 139 of their Top 247. They rate him the 32 best SF in the country and the fifth best player out of Indiana in the 2014 class.
