I have heard that Joey has an NIL deal with Kentucky. From what I have heard it is more than anyone on our team. By the way he would fit in wonderfully here. He is a great kid. He actually won the slam dunk contest on their big blue night. I did see where he scored three points the other night, but I agree little playing time.

That’s great… Robbie Avila could have gotten a bigger NIL deal had he left here but he figured $25k and a car to drive was plenty given our culture and his ability to play 30+ mins a game in a system that fits his style of play. NIL ain’t everything I couldn’t care less if Joey Hart is getting a bigger NIL deal than anyone on our roster. It’s not a big dick contest.

Sure it is. That's the reason it's not affordable to go to an NFL game. Just look at those paychecks.

Sorry if brutal truth but, He will be in the transfer portal on season end. 4 top 25 guard/forwards already signed for UK next year will only push him further down the bench and you can’t get less than zero time he is getting currently So who says in a year or two he isn’t encouraged from within the program to seek a better fit with more top talent coming in each year. We have even seen that here with players at ISU.
We all see the superstar spotlight is fading with each game for the kid and i could see some around him not being able to handle that and encouraging a move. I am not meaning to be mean so don’t read it that way. I am just trying to state the obvious truth.

I needed to mention in my previous post that almost everyone I have spoken with who have seen him play for Linton-Stockton insists that Hart is an elite player and would fit into just about any Division One Program. And I'm talking about long time fans who watch a lot of High School Basketball including some former coaches.
I got to see Hart play quite a bit in high school being here in the Haute. IMO there's P5 hoops, high level P5 hoops (teams typically at the top of P5 conf standings every year), then there's hoops at places like UK. Love them or not they get a different level of kid. Good on him for landing at UK but Hart doesn't fit at that level as a freshman. Probably not as a soph either. That said, dude can flat out play. Hart would be a great addition to our team and could thrive here.

I agree he doesn’t fit at that level as you said and Cal his bringing in higher profile better guard/forwards next year and will continue to do so. I strongly think he will be in the portal at the end of the year and we are full roster. I could really see him going to play for Michael Lewis at Ball State next year.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Hart a pure 2 shooting guard at 6 foot five?? I am not sure where you would put this guy in our line up after watching us play our first 8 games. Not sure you would want to start four guards and Robbie, no matter what team we are playing. All that being said, we obviously have a terrific three guard combo as it is. Sometimes you can have too many good players and the chemistry is not what it should be. That is what makes College Basketball so great. Would love to see him land somewhere in Indiana, but for the life of me, where would he fit in on this team barring any serious injuries (god forgive) or if someone totally unexpected would leave?

That's always been my thought of him. Pure position bball 2. Would've been a God-send for us last year if he was a freshman. Wouldn't play much for us this year if he were on the roster. Don't see the fit next year with the way our roster projects if everyone returns. There will be a market for him should he chose to leave Lexington. I just don't think its here. I'll definitely be following his career and rooting for him.

Let's just end this thread and wish him the best of luck. I am sure I'm not the only one who hates it when our own choose to play out of state and end up being forgotten on the bench. All the NIL $$ in the world is not going to help him improve his skills if he is not playing in actual games. Shows me that Kentucky BB is once again representing everything wrong with college sports. Calapari must be the greatest snake oil salesman in the game.

I shall beg to differ on one point. Mr. Hart is practicing against some outstanding guards. In fact, in practice, I expect he is expected to guard and score against superior talent to what virtually any team in the nation can put on the court. I believe you have a better chance to improve your skills by going nose to nose with that kind of talent on a nearly daily basis compared to being on the court against an inferior array of talent in a game situation.
I have zero idea how he is holding up and learning in that situation; however, the opportunity to be a much better player at the end of the season is present.

33M buyout, a new coach is not coming
No, but
However, it does include a provision that will allow Calipari to transition into the role of "athletics director/university representative" beginning with the 2024-25 season. That position would pay Calipari $950,000 per year and continue at least until the expiration of the original 10-year contract in 2029

Quite the convenient timing for it.

The more interesting thing to monitor with Hart is our own situation...

Got to think if JS hits the road and Graves is in consideration - he's probably brining in Hart as one of his first commitments should he get the job.

And with that means his mom will be back posting on the forum which is always fun!

"The game has changed, it's a different world than we lived in 30 seconds ago!" (name that movie quote). with the loss to Oakland Calipari's seat is getting VERY warm. if he goes the rats will scamper as the boat sinks. He may be last man standing and move up to play status because of nobody else left if he sat tight.
