Who was better?

I'll accept Pete Maravich (LSU), that's about it.

I can't imagine who else they have on this list.

Bill Walton?

I'm very surprised Bird was only #9

I'm shocked. I really was sure he'd be #1 or #2. I can't figure how they come up with 8 that were better than him...

Oh well, not the first time I was wrong about something...:eek7:

I don't think you are the one who is wrong here! #9 is an insult!

I bet Lew Alcindor and Walton are in the top 8, as well as Maravich, but to leave Bird out of the top 5 is insane! He did as much, if not more, for ISU's team than any other player in the history of college BB. ESPN is crazy.

They probably placed him there since ISU is considered a "mid major" school. If Bird had played for a BCS school you can bet he'd be top 3 for sure!

Laettner wouldn't have been anywhere close to that high if he wasn't part of ESPN's favorite combination of Duke/North Carolina.

:meditate:This board is full of wise humans!!!:meditate:

Maybe Dickie V is voting on the team all by himself!

Kareem or Walton will be number one. Big "O" has to be in the top five, Pete Maravich should not be in the top twenty, then again, neither should Jordan, but its ESPN, so you know they will ALWAYS pick the style over the substance. Probably why Bird was lower than most would expect.

I would expect BillRussel from San Francisco. Don't forget about Jerry West and Hakeem the Dream.

Anyone think Isiah will make it?

How is Pat Ewing so low?

I'm a huge fan of Magic and Thomas but I don't think anybody can say they were a better college player than The flying wonder. But still, there a lot of great players picked below Bird, so I guess, whatever.

I think Oscar Robertson may be in the top 8...

Sorry, needed to change the subject for myself from the game that just ended.

What about Hank Gathers? Just a thought...trying to think of guys who played in the past 15 to 20 (doesn't have to necessarily be old timers.) Like Danny Manning of Kansas?
