The White Level
Nice crowd and good times at the Block Party. Caught the end of men's practice. Women looked like they will be good once the new kids get their legs and speed up. Had a great time. Expected to see some more posts - some more thoughts/observations?

I was at the block party and the womens practice. The ladies seem once again to have talent on the team. The number of the inexperienced players is a concern though. They will be a fast paced team again this year and should be fun to watch.

Promises to be an interesting season

As usual, the women's coaching staff and the booster club know how to throw "a promotional basketball party." Moreover, team members are extremely approachable. Players and many parents of players interact with the fans. There were several recruits at the Block Party. Most of them already had given an oral commitment. Though she suiffered an ACL only a few days ago, Laurence Rivest seemed upbeat and said she expects to return next year as a redshirt senior.

Looks like the team has some outside shooters. We know what Lena Phillips and Kelsey Luna can do and both looked good in the three-point contest. But the contest was won by redshirt sophomoire Chelsea Buher, the Illinois trasnfer, with freshman Bianca Jarrett and junior Sarah Paul among the finalists.

Remember, freshman Brittany Schoen won the three-point contest during one of the All-Star games in which she participated and freshman Kayla Mullins, who did not compete (I don't think) in the contest Friday night, hit 7 of 8 threes in the Indiana-Ohio All-Star Classic at Fort Wayne.

We have not had a player as tall as 6-4 freshman Shannon Thomas for a long time. There is some nice height among the new players: Megan Burton (a 6-2 three-point shooter), Deja Mattox (6-foot) and Amanda Pedro (6-foot). Some future recruits attending were 6-2 or better. Mattox and Pedro are capable on hitting the trey, too.

Nice pictures, Indian1! Keep them coming. This team is going to be alot of fun to watch. Looking at the pictures it looks like the players were having fun too. That is what it is all about.
