The COC is currently in conversations with RJL Solutions to hire them to handle all marketing, social media, public relations etc. for the NIL collective. Once the deal is done I think you will see several things right off the bat.

- More consistent presence on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook

- Updates to the website. Meaning the current list of deliverables you see currently if you sign-up for an NIL monthly donor that never get delivered (more like undeliverable) that list will go away.

- Marketing of all sports season specific. So you will start to see more of a push for Baseball and Track donors during those particular seasons.

- NIL will form "Ambassador" program. Made of the COC Board, Donors contributing over $1,000 annually and then folks who agree to donate money, corporate sponsorships, time and talent to the COC. They will host quarterly meetings that provide updates on donors and feature a guest speaker at every quarterly meeting.

- If you attend any ISU sporting events in the future you will start having advertisements for the COC pop-up on your social media platforms encouraging you to donate.

A lot of the details are still in the works but the hope is that RJL Solutions can help the COC raise $600k to $1 million for the annual COC fund. I think the expectation is that 80-90% of those dollars will be allocated to the Men's Basketball program.

Any update on RJL Solutions and our NIL status? Are they involved yet and helping the cause?

Simple answer is yes they are involved - working out contract details.

Complex answer is I need more time to type out some things and right now I have my hands full with a 6 month old that’s not always easy to get to sleep.

So more details coming soon!

We had a leash for my son. I walked him from just east of the tracks to the courthouse and back. People looked at me but he didn't run out in the street.

Question: I signed up for a monthly donation to our NIL fund a couple months ago, long enough to have now seen a couple credit card statements that include it. I notice that it costs me $6 to make a $25 donation. Paying someone 24% for this service seems a bit high to me. Would I still get hit with this service charge if I wrote a lump sum check to cover the whole year vs monthly donations?

I don’t have this answer but will surely get the answer. I think you’re probably going to pay the “service fee” no matter - I’d assume it’s prorated depending on monthly or annual donation. Either way the agency managing the money is going to find a way to get paid for administrative fee’s.

I think long term the goal of the collective is to have a full time employee and maybe even eventually move away from this agency that is charging a massive markup for very little ROI. We have been in conversation with the organizers of the IU collective who have encouraged us to breakaway and basically handing over the blueprint to successfully operate as a standalone NIL. I think we are still a year or two away from that.

I’ve been bogged down at work the last month or so and haven’t been able to help push these initiatives forward as much as I’d like. We’ve had several meetings and things are still moving forward - I like the others involved have day jobs and it makes the management side of the NIL world a bit difficult when you’re doing everything pro bono. How I say that and I have very few man hours dedicated to it at this point compared to guys like Todd Hein and John Newton having only stepped in to help them in a few short months I can attest to how difficult it is to work it into daily life.

At any rate - I’ve got some time tomorrow and Thursday, hope to get caught up on some things and will try and get you an answer to your question!

I just tried to sign up for a $25 monthly donation and the convenience fee is listed as $1.36 for a total of $26.36. Something doesn't seem right with a $6 fee.

Where are you getting a $6 fee at? You stated the convenience fee is $1.36, and that is only to ensure CoC gets all the money through credit card fees

Thanks so much to all of you who checked on this. Turns out to have been confusion and miscommunications with my CFO (wife). I am mildly embarrassed but appreciative of the clarification. SSOM, I am especially grateful for the work that you put in to ISU’s NIL efforts. It’s a strange new world of collegiate athletics,
for sure.
