North Dakota led NDSU 10-9 with about 3:30 to play and possessed the ball. Shortly before, it faced a 4 and 1 on its own 35 and went for it with a QB keeper to the 4 hole. Carried it for 5 yards and a first down. Faced with a 4th and inches, The Fighting Hawks went to the same play but the DE sliced under his block and smacked the QB in the backfield giving NDSU a need to gain only about 20 yards for a legitimate shot at a winning FG. Having played the entire game w/o allowing a TD, I think I would have put NDSU on its 10 yard line and made it drive the length of the field. Instead, the Bison score in 4 plays taking a 15-10 lead which holds up over the last 1:22 of the game. VERY tough home loss for North Dakota.
Montana had a surprisingly close win over Eastern Washington while Montana State blasted Weber State.
Seldom does an SEC team schedule an FCS team that might be competitive. Tennessee Tech plays UK this week. I have no feel for how good Tn Tech might be, but it is 10-0 and ranked #5 in the FCS Poll.
Multiple MVFC teams are tumbling to 3 & 4 losses as SIU lost to YSU and SDSU lost its state championship to South Dakota.
Mercer escaped; Lehigh remains undefeated and maybe is earning that high national ranking. 4 of the top 5 teams in the rankings are undefeated representing 4 conferences.
Harvard continues to dominate the IVY League.
