I think we should all be excited for what will happen after this one is over... The all out blitz that SSOM is going to put on the Trent Brown train.

Teams are learning how to defend us. It doesn’t always work, but in conference, the teams know each other better. I think that has a lot to do with our diminished shooting numbers. I also have a lot of faith in HCJS to adjust and continue to add wrinkles that will get us open looks. Which we did yesterday, at a good clip. We'll find our range again, and when we do, look out!!!

We've also have gone through a pretty tough stretch the last 7-8 games. Drake x2, @missouri state, @belmont, @UNI, @murray, Bradley. The fact that we got through that and we are bitching about shooting % tells you what kind of team we have.

Okay...we shot 19% from 3...AGAINST VALPO....AT HOME...

The trend is not good.....I think the minutes are just catching up....

Would it be crazy to suggest that we sit Swope for a game..??...just to give him some rest....do we really need him for Ill State??

Shooters shot. Yes you’re crazy for suggesting that. We wouldn’t be here without him and now you want to sit him for a game. Nothing says - let me ice my own shooter like making him sit out a game because he’s not shooting it as well as he was earlier in the season.

The only trend that matters is us having one 9 games in a row.

What are you talking about. We shot 38% from 3 against Valpo.

Also swope Is still #3 in the COUNTRY in threes per game. He also has a better % than the 2 guys in front of him. No way we sit him.

I think because of how easy it looked all year long that we don't realize that shooting above 40% isn't common. Both Swope and Conwell, even with their struggles here and there are both still in the NCAA Top 50 in 3FG% and both are sitting right under 40%.

Likewise, we're NCAA Top 10 in 3FG% as a team at 39.26% and the #1 team, Kentucky, is shooting 40.96%.

I have no idea what the data say, so I shall dig some out.

Trent Brown. Graduate Student at SIU getting his MBA this year. in 2022-23 was second team All MVC Scholar Athlete. Academically, he seems like an ideal student-athlete that D1 schools want.

2022-23: Started 19 games; played in 32; Production was mediocre at best. Last year SIU was led by Marcus Domask, now arguably the most valuable player for the Fighting Illini, and Lance Jones who starts for #2 Purdue and has brought a level of speed and defense to Purdue that was lacking. That SIU is about 4th in the Valley after losing those two in the portal is impressive.

Looks like a serviceable reserve guard, especially 21 Assists to 7 turnovers
....................................G/GS.............Min; min/g.........FG's.....................................3 Ptrs.......................FT.............................Rebd....R Avg..PF.............A.........TO........Stls...........Pts,,,,,,,PPG
BROWN, Trent ...32-19....... 509:12 15.9............ 29-90 .322 ...................26-81 .321................ 11-14 .786 ............1 24 25 0.8... ....38 0 .......21 ........7........ 0 14............ 95..... 3.0

Now seeing 35+ minutes/game up from 16 last season; Shooting 39% from 3 & 86% at the line; 2:1 Assist/TO ratio and almost one steal/game

2023-24:................G/GS.........Min...min/g............FG's....................................3 Ptrs.........................FT's...........................Pts....Avg........Rbd O-D-Ttl..Avg...PF....A......TO....Stls

What does him getting his MBA have to do with how he balls?

If Southern didn’t lose 2 guys in the portal he wouldn’t be seeing the floor - bottom line. He’s been thrust into action because they don’t have any better options. Trust me - they will be happy to see him finally run out of eligibility
