On paper this is about as evenly-matched as it can get. Butler has played better of late, but I see ISU pulling this one out with an ugly win. Both teams struggle on offense...I see scores in the high-50's to low-60's.

Wish I could be their, but, well, that's kind of a drive for me.

IF, and yes it's a big IF, we win the MVC tourney, this win would be taken into consideration for our NCAA seeding.

Could be the difference between a 14 and 13 seed.

Last year, we lost the Bracketbuster and we were a 14 seed.

holy crap lets win the freakin game. what's the point in not bringing your A game to an instate opponent who we have been dieing to play for years. yeah the game means little right now, but it's a win, we complain about a lack of fanbase. well you win in indy it's gets into the indy paper, then all of the indy alumni see that the sycamores are 17-11 and just beat butler. appose to them seeing a 16-12 team that just lost to butler. i know we risk injury and whatnot but this is how we win recruiting battles with instate schools. last year we finished 20-14 but 21-13 looks a lot better. i know there will be some that disagree with me but there is not one good thing that a loss would do for us, there are 10 good things a win would do for this team.

I'll bet that the majority of these fans are fairly young (under say 45 or 50). Those of us in the older group think of Butler vs Indiana State in a completely different way. To some of us the importance of this game is very high.

You are correct, anytime we play Butler or ISU-M it is a big deal losing is not an option.

Any time you play a team with a status like Butler's, it's a big deal. No, they haven't had the best year, but the political inertia surrounding their recent seasons is enough to make this a big deal. Tack on the history between the two schools and you have yourself one big rivalry game and another chance to prove ourselves.

If nothing else, it can get us in the door. We're lost several head-to-heads with Butler in the last couple years. Andy Smeathers and Roosevelt Jones are two kids that come to mind.
