Well, I said for the last couple of years that I would not donate on Give to Blue day as long as Debbie Downer was around.

So now that she is gone I was all out of excuses so just got done donating to the baseball team

To answer your question in a previous thread, yes Mel Burks (Coach to me) is a very good friend of mine. He was one of many AAU coaches of mine when I was a kid and is still a friend of mine today.

I doubt you were getting at anything but it’s worth noting like many friends of mine - Coach Burks and I don’t agree on everything, but we discuss / disagree and remain friends. It’s a lost art in 2025. I know Coach is a very big supporter of Indiana State Football and I am thankful for his support. He’s also a long time basketball season ticket holder and has done a lot for youth athletics in TH.

I have only heard of him, but what a donation he made to the football program. Your involvement in ISU athletics was the only reason I asked.

The final overall total for this year was
$1,506,090 that’s about $150,000 more than last year.

The amount of donors also went up from 1,611 to 1,937

Basketball has raised around $700k in NIL over the last 2.5 years or so… Once you factor in that investment it’s quite clear what has happened.

Not to discount the football fund raising effort, we’ve said on here for the last 15 years football alums need to put up or shut up. So good to see some of them stepping up.

But the basketball donor stuff is quite easy to understand - people are investing in NIL.

Yes, this impacted my decision today. I normally designate to sports, but since I am already giving to the NIL, I designated it to the general fund.

Regardless of how much was raised good job to everyone that donated. As much as we give our opinions, debate, like and dislike the way college athletics is trending, we aren't put in a position like we are without every donor and fan support.
