There is no reason that ISU can't become a solid mid major program. If Butler can do it, ISU can too. I think McKenna will do very well since he has been under a similar program that has been very successful.

I am an IU fan and alum, but I will be following ISU since Aaron Carter (Perry Central) will be playing for the Sycamores. My wife went to Perry Central and I have watched Aaron become quite a good player over the years.

Do you guys in the know see Aaron Carter playing much as a freshman? He is a solid outside shooter, has a good handle, and can drive and finish in the lane. I saw him dunk over a couple of guys in Louisville last year at an AAU tournament.

First off welcome aboard! We have room for a few IU fans on here..lol...ISU is pretty deep and talented at the guard spot so I'm not sure how much playing time Aaron will se this season. Guys like Holmstrom,Moore,Marshall and Stinson will get the majority of the time I expect but with guys like Aaron along with Jordan Printy and Lamar Lee we are loaded in the backcourt. That is good however if we are moving to a more uptempo/pressing style of play. I know the staff is VERY high on Printy out of Iowa and expect great things from him soon. Sounds like Carter is very athletic and if he has a good eye from the arc I'm sure there will always be a spot for him. What other schools was after his services?

It does sound like the backcourt is very deep, but I am a believer in a three guard offense.

Aaron had offers from Eastern Kentucky, Belmont, Eastern Illinois, UMass (Aaron played on Eddie Ford's AAU Blue team, Eddie is related to Travis Ford - UMass coach), and possibly Western Kentucky, Butler, and Evansville. I think some of those teams had offered him but they at least had interest. Aaron's brother Matt played for Bruce Pearl at USI and he also listed Tennessee, but I am not sure how much interest they really had in Aaron. IU and UK had also taken a few looks at Aaron as well.

It's going to be difficult to get onto the court as Moyer said, but if he can shoot the rock and we do go to this new uptempo offense, I see no reason why he can't see some burn to help keep the guards fresh at all times. We haven't been this deep at the guard spots since the late 90s. It's a definite luxury to have, especially in a guard oriented league.

I have no idea how much playing time Aaron might get, but I heard Royce say last year that Aaron would be starting last year if he were in college. Of course, that's before Rico proved to be such a steal, and Harry came on as perhaps the best "walk on" ever. But I got the feeling Royce thought he was better than Cole, and at that time, Cole was regarded as our best freshman by far. I know Royce was very high on Cole, so that speaks well of Aaron to get praise like that.

Aaron is a nice kid and a good player. I was told he put up 25 against Michael Jordan's son's AAU team in Louisville and had some nice comments about Aaron's play. Something to the effect that he could play on any team. I got that information second hand though, since I arrived after that game. I think that one of Aaron's family members mentioned that.

I saw Cole last year prior to the season and he looked great. He held his own against the Juniors at the Junior - Senior All Star exhibition game at Forest Park.
