Erica did finish 7th among the collegians. Note that most of the field were older, club team members or unattached. Would not be surprised to see her trying again in four years when she would be among that group?

Kylie Hutson did find out today she gets to compete in the Pole Vault, that event begins Thursday night! It's been a GREAT meet so far for those watching on TV

2007 ISU grad Jordan Fife will also begin competition in the Steeplechase on Thursday night. Should be on USA Network for those following on TV

Jordan Fife was 22nd in the steeple prelims, not advancing, and Kylie Hutson tied for 13th in the women's pole vault, not advancing to the finals. Tough competition, these are, after all, the olympic trials.

One more ISU alum to compete as Aubrey Herring starts competing in the 110 meter high hurdles tomorrow.

Shalane Flanagan is Daughter of ISU Track Star

Though it is not quite the same, please be reminded that Shalane Flanagan is the daughter of Cheryl Pedlow, one-time American record holder in the marathon and the first female athlete to receive an athletic scholarship at ISU. Cherie Pedlow Flanagan, now Treworgy, was an early inductee into the ISU Athletic Hall of Fame.

Flanagan, a graduate of North Carolina and a college All-American in both track and cross country, qualified for the 2008 Olympics in two events. She won the 10,000 meters and finishe third in the 5,000 meters.

One of Shalane's great thrills was winning in the NCAA cross country championship at the Bird-Gibson course at the Wabash Valley Sports Center in Terre Haute, where her mother made her home for many years.

Herring's Advancement Did Not Make Terre Haute Newspaper

It is disturbing to me that Aubrey's success Saturday was not mentioned in Sunday's Tribune-Star.

yeah, kind of surprising they didn't mention it at all.

He didn't make the finals either, running 13.35 and missing by 2 spots. Pretty good times were run in his semi-final heat though.

No mention of Aubrey's fate in Tribstar

No mention in the newspaper of what happened to Aubrey in the semis, either, unless I missed it.

Mitch Stetter's victory for the Brewers did make it.
