Sycamores won 12-0! Eric Valdez was the starting pitcher (went 7 innings), then Scott Harlan and Mark Conover had an inning each. That's all we know at this point.

Whoop it up! The Trees are 7-1!!!

Awesome!

Bradley lost today so that should put ISU in the number one slot with 7-1! Nice start to the season boys. Coach has to be happy with that. Cordell says he was told that he will start on Tuesday's game.

That will be a good test for him. The hated Hoosiers come to town. Cordell will get his first taste of pitching to a probable first round draft pick when big, bad Josh Phegley comes to town. If you aren't familiar with Phegley, he is the former Terre Haute North star who was Indiana's Mr. Baseball, 2nd team all-american last year and preseason, 1st teamer this year. Ball State walked him 4 times yesterday. I know the Sycamores will be up to the challenge.

Thanks for the heads TrueBlue. I'm not sharing this piece of knowledge with Cordell, we only need one person in our family freaking out on Tuesday. :) How does the rest of the team look?

They are supposed to be pretty good this year but they have gotten off to a relatively slow start. They got a good offense.(I know, I'm not helping) Crawford, Phegley, Dickerson, and Sabourin are their top guys. However, historically, the Big Ten is nowhere near the conference the Missouri Valley is. ISU went undefeated two years ago against Big Ten teams beating IU, Illinois, and Purdue. 5-0 I think was the final record.

Wow, they're blowing out everyone they're playing in the classic. I hope this start is for real. I was going to ask everyone how many wins we might expect this year, but I'm afraid to jinx the team.

Story on today's games:

HI Bent

When I talked to Cordell he said that the teams in Florida have not looked very good, so he told me not to read too much into the wins. Dell said that this coming week was going to be the true test of the quality of the season start. So, stay tuned....

SkinnyLu,

I'm sure he already knows. IU's All-American Josh Phegley played in HS with Nick Ciolli.

IU is very similar to ISU. THEY HIT THE HECK OUT OF THE BALL!!!! That being said, teams score a lot of runs on them. I play on attending the game.

I just went thru Olean, NY (home of St. Bonnie) last week...if you saw the weather in SW NY State, you'd understand WHY these teams don't look good. That's why they're in Florida!

Good planning by Meggs to have a couple ISU trips down South during early season.
