Hate to admit it but I have thrown in the towel for this season. While this group of guys are competitive in most games they do not have the killer instinct to win as a group. They are underachievers and I don't foresee them beating SIU on Sunday or being anything other than one & done in St. Louis. Prove me wrong!
Time to hit the portal for next season & try again.
 
U might be right, hope not.

But

I don't get the quitting mindset. I'm seeing this season to through its conclusion. Then, will be excited about the off-season.

I mean, life is more fun rooting for the Sycamores, even in a sub .500 year.

Seniors gonna remember Sundays game forever. Let's send them off well. Perhaps more importantly, one last opportunity to show the underclassmen that the fan support for Sycamore men's basketball is a level above.

Would I like the Sycamores to win? Absolutely, always...especially on senior day.


Would I hate it if they lose and have the 6:30 game on Thursday instead of the noon game? Also no.

I don’t think the use of underachievers is a fair. Graves started with a team of 3 and added 10 players from all over with different backgrounds and had to create a team after getting a very late start in the portal due to being in the NIT Championship and the slow hiring process of the coach.

I would rather play at noon. I feel we match up better with Drake than we do with UNI or Bradley

I would absolutely love to return the favor of ending Drake's shot of getting to the NCAA like they did us last year. Let them have all these high hopes and let it all come crashing down ending with their coach and many players leaving......seems like poetic justice to me. I don't care what path it takes to make that happen.....just want it to happen.

So April 7th?

Coaches would probably be on board. There were complaints guys were getting contacted during the tourney run. There will be some point where in the future where a kid gets a crazy offer and quits during the NCAA Tournament to protect said offer. Could be doubly intriguing if it is from a team/coach that is a rival of their current team/coach.

Someone for Dayton sat our their tournament game last year because he had already decided to go into the portal. As for whether he already had a deal in place before officially entering the portal..., nobody wants to touch that can of worms.

The portal should not open until the Monday after the championship game. The MLB specifically keeps free agency closed until 5 days after the last WS game specifically to make sure its not a distraction for teams in the playoffs. I know the argument is "pushing the portal window back affects class scheduling at their new school" but let's all be honest - anyone actually in it for their education is going to stay at the same school for 3 years, and if a school is paying a kid $200,000 plus to play for them, they're going to be VERY accommodating on getting them signed up for Underwater Basket Weaving 101 or another fluff class of their choice.
