Missouri State will be in our neck of the woods this upcoming weekend for a 3-game series with my Beavs up in Portland. I won't be able to attend (we're 5 hours south of there), but there's a possibility that my husband may have the time to take his dad to one of the games while he's visiting.

I know these guys placed first in the coach's pre-season poll. Any feedback on the team so far and who to watch?

Thanks, Blue. I'd seen their record and thought that the MVC coaches must have felt something about these guys that just hasn't shown up in their season so far. Then again, potential is sometimes only worth the paper it's written on. I see on their stats that their team ERA is higher than ISU's, and they are really struggling with errors out on the field.

Mizzery State is AWFUL, TERRIBLE, they just got swept by a Mid-Con team that had won ONE game all season, plus they lost to a team last weekend that had been WINLESS before playing the Bears.

They will NOT win the MVC this year. ISU had better sweep that series, MSU's fielding is AWFUL, errors galore.

Memphis

ISU should have a better shot to win at Memphis than they did at KY. Memphis was beaten pretty handily by Bradley and Bradley is only 3-6 this season.

the MVC teams aren't that good this year, only INS, WSU, and maybe UNI have at least a .500 record or better. This will be a good season for ISU to finish in the top 3 if they can keep the good play going. Need some better relief pitching though it appears.

Well, then the Beavs should wipe them up this weekend. If they don't, then I will be doing some of this...

:jawdrop:

And expect a ration from the ISU faithful.

My humblest apologies to all the Sycamore faithful. It's apparent that my Beavs do not deserved the #23 ranking that they held this weekend, as they lost Games 2 (3-5) & 3 (2-4) to MISSOURI STATE...sigh....

While the usual Bad New Bears showed up to PGE Park on Friday night with their horrible fielding (4 errors, 3 of them for 3b Brayden Drake) and gave OSU a 8-7 win, it looks like they managed to find themselves on the better side of starting pitching (Buddy Baumann and Aaron Meade) and nearly error-free ball on the other two games. And if you dig through Friday's stats, I'm willing to admit that we could have lost that game as well if the errors weren't there.

It will be interesting to see if MSU is a Jekyll and Hyde team or if they're improving.

Wichita also got a series win over nationally ranked Pepperdine this weekend - looks like the league might not be as "down" as we originally thought it might be.
