Not confident we win this game. Really hope we play with purpose and not all discombobulated like we did vs Charlotte.

Game looks like it will be decided by how we shoot from deep. Their big is also a twig... will be interesting to see if Harding/Vorst try to take it at him and get him into foul trouble.

Took a quick glance at their UTSA box and you can't shoot much worse than the Roadrunners did -- 28% from the floor, 24% from 3 and 62% from the line while SIUE shot 48%, 43% and 58%.

How do those numbers stack against our two games? I’m joking but I can’t imagine we’ve done much better. I just want to see improvement from Charlotte game

It's the morning of game day and I have to wonder...

Can we please shoot better than 30% at the three point line?
Will we out-rebound SIUE?
Which Cougar will scorch the Sycamores?
Which Sycamore will scorch the Cougars?
Who will score more points, Vorst or Harding?
Who will have more rebounds, Harding or Vorst?
Who will play more minutes, Varding or Horst?
How many dunks will St. Bernard have?
Will Walker play more than 15 minutes?
Is Camp's thumb feeling any better?
Will Hall have a third game in a row with nine assists?
Will we go into the Duke game with a winning record?
Or are we destined to start the season 1-3?

We've shot:

- 41% / 33% / 50% vs Butler
- 47% / 27% / 71% vs Charlotte
- 55% / 27% / 70% vs Illinois Tech

In the two official games, we're at 27% 3FG. Last year we were ~35%. We also didn't shoot sub 30% 3FG in a single game last year. Not telling you anything you don't already know but you cannot run this offense shooting 27% from deep. I mean, you can, you're just not winning ball games. Tonight we're likely to see a breakout revert to mean or solidify the unfortunate reality that this team cannot shoot.

Boy I hope it's the former of those two options. I have to think we are a better shooting team than we've seen the first 2 games, especially with how many times we heard about the roster being filled with shooters. Even if we do shoot well, if the defense and rebounding isn't improved we'll lose this game.

3 point shooting this year 24-81 but Camp accounts for 4-25. If you remove him from the mix, the rest of the team is shooting .357. He is not healthy, his thumb/wrist on his shooting hand and his knee are both giving him fits.

All the links at the bottom of the game story at GOSYCAMORES lead to ISU Women which I have absolutely no interest in. Hate to say racist but even historical black universities have at least one token white person. ISU WBB has all black coaches, players and even managers etc. ??????

That's a fair point. However, outside of Scott and Young, none of the regular rotation guys (10mpg+) are above 25%. Oof.

But .357 team ave is ok, right? And we are playing a long bench now. I think we will be ok with a shorter bench and Camp gets over his injuries. Not worried about shooting. Our success depends on passing, rebounding and defense.

Yes, you've be above average at 35.7%.

NCAA average last year was 33.9% and we were 139th at 34.7%.

That is self correcting (natural selection). The ones that shoot better will play more and the ones that shoot worse will play less (generally speaking).
