The Sycamore Level
Every time I'm in Terre Haute, I see plenty of advertisement for ISU in bars, billboards, etc. The town is plenty blue in that respect.
This is big boy college football. These guys on scholarship are receiving a taxpayer-funded education. I appreciate their time and effort, but it's their job. I worked full-time in college. Many of us did, or at least PT. This isn't high school. Again, a lot of you need to hear this. THIS ISN'T HIGH SCHOOL. Compete to win. Losing by 19 at home isn't good enough. Not in year three, not with a team that was supposed to be a playoff contender. You think simply packing a stadium wins a team games against a superior opponent? Doesn't work for Tennessee and they have 70-80,000 (in a stadium that can seat 102,000 - they don't support losing teams there either). This is on the team and coaches. You have the financial support. Get better!
Were you at the game? Do you have an * convoy that Trekked down from Iowa? With all due respect did you see any poles on The Wabash Ave. painted blue? We’re people parading memorial stadium and it’s surrounding business on game day? Did you see any students caravans in attendance? Did anyone in the MSA of 170,000 know that the #3 team in the country was in town? NO! Less than 3% of the community was there. Next question.
We don’t care they don’t care. We show we care and they will care. That’s how it works around these parts. We’re there to entertain them just as much as they are there to entertain us. It goes hand and hand with success. No energy equals no effort.
