Tom James Fan 1

The White Level
Let me ask you all a question. Why is a 22 year old kid the Director of Recruiting for a D1 football Program? Does this kid even know what the heck he is doing? Looking back it doesn’t even look like he has playing experience. We are taking kids who are awful and can’t run or pass to save their lives. The whole offensive staff need fired stating immediately as their performance hasn’t shown anything at all since Mike Bath took over as OC and Tyler Funk took over as OL Coach. The “Football Players” that we are recruiting are god awful….. Maybe we need to start looking outside of the state of Indiana…. oh wait they don’t have any money to spend because of the universities money crisis that the president and Athletic Director put them in because they won’t fire this horrible “coach”. Curt Mallory is an embarrassment to the university and the state of Indiana. This program is going to crap because the administration won’t let curt go. Honestly we might as well have Lou West back as the coach if that’s what kind of team we want. 1-10 won’t even qualify us for the toilet bowl that we are swimming in… if Curt honestly thinks he’s gonna get a better job somewhere else he is wrong. Looking at his record not a even a retirement community league would want to hire him. Rest Easy Indiana State it’s been real.

Getting the feeling, since this is not the first time you've started this exact topic with near identical wording, that this is personal for you.

Very odd.

Know ing the real Tom James a bit I imagine he would dislike the the tenor of your post. Kind of smacks of 3 rd rate AI.

I'll comment on the in state vs out of state athletes. It costs the university the same money to give scholarships to either. The amount is ZERO. I know the accountants make it look different but it is the same. The university just doesn't charge either one for their tuition.

The University has not supported football since Bennie Cooper. They simply tolerated it and do not care what the record might be. They Pretend with rah, rah, rah, every year. When football was supported as it was under athletic Director, Bob King, we had the number five team in the nation that got beat by Southern Illinois, the national champion twice that year, and the next year we were ranked number one in the nation and have some absolute studs on the ISU football team. Coach Raetz had many of young man who went on to play professional football, but the university cut His budget, made him recruit from Indiana. Pretty hard to recruit against Notre Dame, Purdue, IU and Ball State as well as the mid America conference schools right across the state line and the Illinois schools right across the state line. All of the schools have much much better facilities than we do. All of them also are in conferences to qualify for a bowl games. Several high schools have better facilities. Tom James is one of the most loyal Sycamore supporters we. have, he would not be critical of the football program. He is always positive trying to make some good out of the situation, why don’t some of you help promote instead of tearing down. Curt Mallory can coach, he has a lot of experience and pedigreed in the field, what he needs, his support, monetary support, a new stadium and a commitment to football from this university. We’re lucky they even have assistants with the amount of money we pay, you don’t get top-notch assistant coaches by paying $100,000. I would have never believed that the best president of the university was Alan Rankin, Who hired Bob King, who set up our most successful, athletic era ever.
Finally, I would like to mention that one of the most loyal Sycamore fans ever, Harry Secrest Junior, passed away this week at age 87. Harry and I have toured this country for 50 years watching Sycamore football and basketball and other teams. He will be greatly missed.
Now keyboard warriors, fall all over yourself of support IU football, and the Indianapolis Colts

Oh my, this is terrible. Harry was a died-in-the-wool Sycamore fan, and a great friend to my family. He will be sorely missed. ISU lost a great one. Rest in peace, Harry.

Might it be that Beanie (not Bennie) Cooper was the LAST Indiana State Athl Director with a football background? None of the ADs since Cooper are "football focused" and to be fair, has ISU ever BEEN a "football" school?

Good post except that part about assistant coach pay. South Dakota State's OC makes 83k base for example:

I agree with the Assistant Coaching money. Our OC does not know how to detect a fake blitz. High School coaches in Texas know this, and make a lot less. If Mallory had been coaching for a long time, then I guess I’m a singer? Can’t carry a note, but been singing a long time. Mallory is not the answer.
