Dikembe has ties to the area. He had relatives that worked at Indiana State, and has family living in the Indianapolis area.
His brother Illo was recruited by Indiana State but age requirements for Division 1 wouldn't allow him to play. He played at Southern Indiana and was a D2 all American.
