They have a tough match up tonight against Cliff Lee. He has been lights out the last two postseasons. If Price is on his game like I think he will be a run or two might win this game tonight. Yankees do have an advantage in this series even though they dont have home field in my opinion because they wont have to face Lee or Price 3 times in the ALCS since they are pitching in Game 5 tonight.

Yep -- it was in today's paper; Lee or Price won't start until game 4, in addition the series would have to go to 7 games for Lee / Price to face the Yankees a second time...

Who has home field in a tx / nyy matchup? nyy - better overall record? tx - division winner?

You sure they wouldn't pitch until game 4? That seems unlikely to me. I would think they would be out there in game 3. Game 3 would be next Monday night. They would be on full rest plus a day for game 3. Wild Card winners can't have home field unless its league won the World Series then they can have it in the World Series. Division winner trumps Wild Card.

Mis-read the paper; "Lee or Price would not start before Game 3 and would start once in the first six games" Yanks to add man to ALCS rotation, USA Today, pg 2C, newstand edition, 12 Oct 2010

So, the Yanks will face Price or Lee once in the first 4 games, twice in 7; they get 3 in NYC and the rest on the road. I wonder what Vegas is posting for odds?

It is gonna be tough for whatever manager that is down 3-2 not to throw their ace in Game 6. If the series goes that long which I think most people think it will.

I can see a tbr / nyy series going 7 games, some into extra innings;
as to tx, not sure -- believe the rangers split their series with nyy this season

only one way to know -- watch em!

I think the Rangers are a pitcher away from being a GREAT club...They have the bats but the starting pitchers are just not up to snuff..Past Lee and CJ Wilson, i just don't think they are very good...

their bullpen supported that staff all year till lee got there. even lee got knocked around in their park. the bullpen has carried that pitching staff all year. and i believe the starters were in the top of the league for pitches thrown per apperance. so theif staff is fine imo, just not any names people know.

Too much Cliff Lee tonight for the Rays assuming they hang on to this 4 run lead in the 9th. The Rays will be a different team next season. No Carl Crawford, Soriano, prolly Carlos Pena, and Bartlett.

Way to go Rangers! Cliff Lee is a stud. Hope they can give the Yankees a good series and hopefully win the series. That would be pretty cool if Lee pitched against the Phillies in the World Series.

I don't care much about baseball, but FINALLY, the Rangers got that monkey off of their back. They won a playoff series.....and what a strange way to do it? Nice win~

I'd like to see the Yankees face ethier NL team versus seeing the Rangers play ethier of those teams. Halladay/Lincecum vs. CC in Game 1, Oswalt/Cain vs. Pettite in Game 2, Hamels/Sanchez vs. Hughes in Game 3 and all those being possible rematches later in the series.

EGC i am talking about Starting Pitching...I know their Bullpen is very adequate especially with that young flamethrower neftali feliz...ok someone educate me tho...any chance we see Lee pitch game 2 and Game 5 possibly? I know in these championship series the way they are spread out allow pitchers to come back....

They said on ESPN last night that he was going to be the Game 3 starter. He being Cliff Lee. The way the series is set up he could start Game 2 on 3 days rest and then start Game 5 on 3 days rest as well. Then he could pitch out of the bullpen in a possible Game 7 with 2 days of rest. They have good pitchers to throw out there in Game 1 and 2 (Wilson and Lewis) that if they can pull of a win or two they could be looking pretty with Cliff Lee waiting to pitch Game 3. On paper it looks like the Game 1 matchup favors the Yanks but somepeople forget that before last year CC had been pretty bad in the playoffs and he wasn't that good in his first start in this postseason.
