Chances of us being the 1 seed are almost non-existent (we lose all majority of tie-breakers) but there is still a decent chance we can tie for the league title, and we have pretty good odds of finishing top 4.

Pretty interesting, all the advanced stats have us at #3 seed. I’d be stoked with that. I want to avoid Belmont in first round if at all possible. I know we haven’t played them yet, but they have a couple guys who can drop 25+ and we don’t usually stop those guys

Missouri Valley Standings

1. Drake (13 - 4) Defeated Bradley based on head-to-head record (1-0).
2. Bradley (13 - 4) Lost to Drake based on head-to-head record (0-1).
3. S Illinois (12 - 5) Defeated Indiana St and Belmont based on round-robin record (2-1).
4. Indiana St (12 - 5) Defeated Belmont and lost to S Illinois based on round-robin record (1-1).
5. Belmont (12 - 5) Lost to S Illinois and Indiana St based on round-robin record (0-1).
6. Missouri St (10 - 7)
7. Murray St (9 - 8)
8. UNI (8 - 9)
9. Valpo (5 - 12) Defeated Illinois St based on head-to-head record (2-0).
10. Illinois St (5 - 12) Lost to Valpo based on head-to-head record (0-2).
11. UIC (2 - 15)
12. Evansville (1 - 16)

If Missouri State wins out and beats us, we need to have won a game or we'd fall all the way to 7th. Right now, the 4/5 spot is essentially interchangeable with regards to playing each other in the 2nd round but #4 gets the bye and #5 playing Evansville on Thursday.

Actually if we were to lose out and not win a game we would be 6th. A tie with Murray State we win or a tie with Mo St we win (Assuming we beat Mo St). Those teams have to play each other again.

I don't understand. We haven't played Belmont yet. Please explain this to me like I'm a four year old.

Three or more tie puts us in a round robin against each other and seeded by winning pct. As of today, those are the round robin records, so as of today we would be 4th seed.
The Belmont game, under the assumption we beat ILst , will untie one of us and alter that seeding

Let me take a simple stab at it. If we tied with:

Drake - Drake would have the tie breaker because of higher NET
Bradley - Bradley would have the tie breaker because of head to head win
Belmont - Comes down to our game in a week
SIU - We would hold tie breaker because of higher NET
Missouri State - For the love of god tell me we don't tie them.

Once it gets to a 3 way tie I have no idea

Tournament Tiebreaker System
Regular-season standings are the determining factor in setting first-round pairings for the State Farm MVC Tournament. All ties will be broken starting at the top of the Conference standings and working down. The tie-breaking system for seeding of the State Farm MVC Tournament, regardless of whether a tie involves two or more teams, will utilize the following factors, in order, until all ties are broken.

Two-way Ties
1. Records in head-to-head competition are compared, with the higher seed going to the team that has won the most games against the other.
2. If head-to-head competition does not break the tie, the deadlock will be broken using the NCAA Evaluation Tool (N.E.T.), as published by the NCAA on the morning after the final regular-season MVC games. The team with the better N.E.T. rating will receive the higher seed.

Multiple Ties
1. If three or more teams are tied, regular-season competition among the tied schools shall be pooled into a “mini round-robin.” Teams shall be ranked according to their position in such a round-robin.
2. If head-to-head competition does not break the tie, the deadlock will be broken using the NCAA Evaluation Tool (N.E.T.), as published by the NCAA on the morning after the final regular-season MVC games. Team will be seeded based on their N.E.T. rating.

I feel like there's a new one that is slotted between the round robin and net that I don't quite get.

I think, if I read it right, if a round robin doesn't break a tie....say 3 teams are tied for 3rd are 2-2 against the other...they start down the conference list by win pcts. Comparing win pct against 1st place team, if not broken then to 2nd place, if not broken then to 6tj place...and down. Net is final factor

If this is true...then due to the unbalanced schedule, it's unlikely we ever get to the net tiebreaker

Jason- I have looked and can't find, you posted a bracket calculator a while back that placed the teams in the bracket based on wins and what if of remaining games. can you repost that or tell me where it is. Thanks!
