Don't forget THESE additional reasons to loathe them... 1958-59, 1959-60, 1963-64 and 1970-71...

Any OFC members know if we were ever in the running to land Don Buse or Steve 'The Whale' Welmer?

Info wasn't as available back then, but I always figured we tried. We did get Bush, who was good for us but was not a pro player. And they got Larry Humes and we got Bugsy Humes. Down through the years, they have almost always took players away from us.

Surprised Purdue didnt land 1 of the Humes'... ray eddy and bud ritter (LONG TIME coaches of the Cubs were both purdue grads...)
Ritter was from Evansville, Eddy from Columbus...

Larry was all EVERYTHING for the aces, Bugsy was good but got hurt for us; Willie put up BIG numbers for one of the other ISUs (Idaho State); he was 2x All-Big Sky and was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in 1971. I've never learned anything on Louis aka Junebug or Kenny...

And Bugsy passed away prior to 2012, though I believe the rest of the brothers are still living, in/around Madison.

Got this link from a close friend....go to page 75, and start reading there about Larry Humes...it also talks about Bugsy going to Indiana State, Bud Ritter and more!!!!

Once you start reading this, you can't stop. Following the Larry Humes story, it picks up with Don Buse. Pretty cool book!!!

Yep -- I have a copy of that book.

Yesterday, i found a link via google newpapers that reads as if Bugsy signed a scholie to attend Western Ky. At some point, he ended up at the College of Southern Idaho (coached by the infamous Eddie "Emery Cash Delivery" Sutton) and subsequently at State.

Here's that newspaper story... june 1965. So, should we consider this PROOF that Bugsy signed at Western... either left, had to leave...
ended up at CSI... then State? I didn't find any mention of his time at WKU in the ISU Media Guides from that era, NOR in the WKU media guide.

Here are two other mentions of a 'Howard Humes' at WKU...

Humes, Howard... on pg 28.
