For those who travel it more frequently than I, is 40 still a more consistent bet than I-70 for avoiding those miles-long stretches of 20 mph? I'll be cutting it close to getting over for the football game tomorrow and any advice you can give would be appreciated!!!

From Indy take US 40. DO NOT take US 40 (Washington Street) from Indy to Plainfield. The construction before you get to Plainfield is horrible. I am from Brownsburg and I can tell you for certain after traveling from Brownsburg to TH hundreds upon hundreds of times, that there is a 6 minute difference between taking I-70 and US 40 from Plainfield. For 6 minutes I would rather enjoy the drive and the scenery than worry about semis running me off the road on I-70. Plus the construction on I-70 can really cause back-ups. There is quite a bit of construction on I-70 right now...also, coming in on 40 means that you drive straight to the field! Plus there are far more State Troopers on I-70.

I agree with Indystate45-take 70 to Plainfield and then get on 40, that way you avoid the construction between indy and plainfield on US 40.

Looking at the traffic cameras right now, I-70 is backing up heavily BEFORE the 267 Plainfield exit. Might want to hop off at Ronald Reagan.

Think I'll hop off on Ronald Reagan Parkway. I'm coming from 465, so that means I'll never actually have to get on 70! Of course, I have to deal with the traffic in the shopping area of Plainfield, but that's over pretty quickly...

Thanks to all of you for your advice!!!

If I were coming from the north or west side I would take I-74 to the Lizton exit (SR 39). Then take 39 south to Danville (US 36). Take 36 west to New Winchester (US 231) and south to 40. It's an easy drive without any of the Plainfield and I-70 hassles.

Heading to Memorial Stadium around 9 a.m. on Saturday....

if anybody wants to join me. I'll be driving over on 40.

Now here is how frickin' old I'm getting...70-40 is the subjectl, right? I'm thinking? Do I want to even read what this is about?

...ha...I had no idea anyone was talkling about I-70 and US 40...hell, I thought everyone was talking about something else.
