To all:
A Capital Campaign is being put together for the ISU Football Program.
The ISU Foundation is moving forward to create the Campaign and roll it out. Meetings have been held with Trent Miles, some former players, and the Foundation to draft a brochure that will be sent out with an explanation of the Campaign.
There is much to do in order to make this a success and the ISU Foundation will be looking for assistance from the former players to keep moving this forward.
The Foundation has asked Rich Dawson to be the Chairperson for the Campaign since it was Rich who suggested this idea to Trent Miles, who then took it to the Foundation.
Rich will be reaching out to former players to help us locate players that we have lost touch with and to contact players directly to discuss the Capital Campaign.
Additionally, there will be other marketing strategies that we will look to implement during the Campaign to help in making this a successful campaign.
The first step in the process has been put in place. In my discussions with the Foundation, I expressed to Steve Brown that the conversations that I had with several former players making a donation to the Campaign was not an issue.
Their biggest concern was whether or not the University had a long-term committment to the Football Program. They just did not want to donate to the Football Program Campaign if the University did not envison football as a mainstay at the University.
Steve suggested that a President's Roundtable be put together where I could arrange to bring in this group of 10-12 players to sit down with President Bradley and talk with him and ask questions of him about the University's vision for the Football Program.
Also, this would allow the group to hear straight from the President the University's long-term committment to the ISU Football Program. I felt that this face-to-face with the President would be a tremendous jump-start for the Campaign.
As a result, a Breakfast with the President has been scheduled for August 21, 2010 prior to the ISU Blue/White game scheduled for 7:00 pm.
I am looking for 11 former players out there who would be willing to participate in this Breakfast with the President.
Let me know if you are interested and either e-mail me or call me at 630-917-3193. I have to let the Foundation know the headcount by early next week. I know that I will probably get more than 11 players who want to attend so I will work on a first contact basis.
Also, for those who cannot attend but would like to be involved, I have asked the Foundation if the Breakfast could be set up with a Conference Call Dial-In or Webcast, so others could listen in or view the event while it is in progress.
Additionally, I would welcome any player who had a question for the President to submit it to me and I will make every effort to have your question presented.
