The more you hear about this the more it sounds like it could have been pretty easily prevented. There appeared to be a ton of warning signs regarding the shooter. Hopefuly some day people will start picking up on these signs as it appears after a tragic event like this everyone states how they thought he was capable of doing such a thing. Another concern, where was the security/police present at this event?? How could a bystander just walk right up to a member of the US Congress and shoot them point blank in the head and still be able to get off 20 or more shots?

While he's an adult, he did still live with his parents. I'd believe (as a parent) that when my child has been expelled from any school (at any age), for the reasons he was expelled, that THAT should be the warning sign.

As to security, if the US Rep didn't request any, why would there be any security? Members of Congress travel and meet with citizens ROUTINELY, without incident.

As to 20+ shots -- extended clips and people ducking for cover.
