This shows what our conference brethren were getting to show up at their games his weekend.

SIU @ NDSU 18,066

YSU @ SDSU 14,966

WIU @ MSU 10,076

ILSU @ UNI 9,946

USD @ INSU 5,224

We are about half of what the next lowest gets. The most impressive one to me is Missouri State. They've been absent from the playoffs almost as long as we have (1991), but yet they can get over 10,000 to a game.

Something must change.

That was their homecoming and they have 8,000 more students and a town with 100,000 more residents

2 weeks prior they drew 8,000 vs South Dakota

And your point is? There's always an excuse that we can use. Heck, ISU leads the country in excuses...

Btw, we barely drew half of that South Dakota total. And we're ranked. And have the best football team at ISU in almost 30 years. I wonder how their marketing differs from ours, particularly where students are concerned...

I know it won't happen for a while if ever but what they really need is a new stadium. Maybe not even new but MAJOR renovations. The who bleachers on one side is pretty lame. I know they had some bleachers on the other side of the field for a while but I dont know what they could do. Stands maybe half as high but in a horseshoe shape around the rest of the field or something.

Yeah? Well 2 weeks prior MSU had ZERO wins and drew 8,000. We are 7-2 and are getting 5,000. This is and may be best football team ISU may ever have and hardly anyone will be able to say they were actually there to see it.

Terre Haute also seems to be the least enthusiastic city in America for ANYTHING.

Blaming Terre Haute...fan excuse Bingo...

Also Terre Haute is the only city with mopeds, poverty, fat people, Walmart,.....

As Indytreefan stated so eloquently, ISU leads the nation in excuses....

Let's not forget the Colts can't sell a game out this year....the Yankees had 20,000 empty seats at an ALCS game...but Terre Haute is to blame for ISU's attendance woes... :imslow:

I get your point but just an FYI. The COLTS sellout streak is well over 100 and EVERY game has been a sellout this year, despite losing roughly 1,300 season tickets holders this past year. ALL games have been televised. Last year they were sold out every game ahead of the season but this year, they have less than a 1000 available for each game but have been able to sell them all before the Thursday deadline.

Im just saying the circumstances are a little different for those attendance figures. I assume the numbers will grow and probably lag a little behind the success. Unfortunately over the last couple years we have lost our playoff clincher games.

I think they should encourage tailgating, then shut it off and then open it back up at halftime (I know some people won't come back). I don't know if this would work but they should require a ticket for tailgating or charge per person to get in the amount of a ticket plus a couple dollars and have people who are taking the tailgating money also have tickets for sale so people can save $2 by purchasing a ticket.

They should also set up those inflatable toys behind the hill or something. That way maybe my wife can take my daughters there to play while I can watch the games in peace. Maybe people won't be coming for the right reasons but it might get people in the habit of coming out on Saturdays.

Not that it improves our situation, but I don't necessarily trust those numbers. WIU claimed to have 9,000 for our game and they didn't even have half that.

I'm a season ticket holder....they are sellouts in name only, trust me. LOTS of empty seats in the upper level.

As am I. I think even you would say that the COLTS have surprised us in getting to the "sold out" status, even if there are a few no-shows. Like ISU, they post paid tickets numbers, not actual. The NFL started to do that a few years back. I can tell you that there are very few no shows where I sit. Keep in mind that when the count was listed a couple of years back at 67,000 or more, it was roughly 4K over capacity because of suite capacities and SRO. This year, except for Green Bay, it was been listed at 63-64,000, which is still over capacity but there are less in the house.

ya, i forgot about that, if there were 3500 people there they were all hiding.

I took those numbers and added:
1) City Population
2) School Enrollment
3) Median Home Value
4) Median Household Income

This shows what our conference brethren were getting to show up at their games his weekend.

SIU @ NDSU 18,066 - 107,349 - 14,443 - $146,600 - $41,558
YSU @ SDSU 14,966 - 32,226 - 12,725 - $138,300 - $45,134
WIU @ MSU 10,076 - 160, 660 - 18,826 - $103,800 - $33,082
ILSU @ UNI 9,946 - 39,387 - 12,273 - $151,400 - $47,339
USD @ INSU 5,224 - 60,961 - 12,115 - $75,600 - $31,117

And your point is? Every city has issues. I would bet that our ticket prices are a darned sight lower than everyone else's, too. So, income is a wash. Our MSA is big enough to draw more than 5,000 people - it's not like we're trying to get 25,000 in the stands. I don't know how many people need to use the equity in their homes to buy tickets in those other areas, but as I said, our ticket prices are much lower than everyone else's, so that doesn't really move me.

Excuses, excuses, excuses. I know they don't have the ideal situation. They have a captive audience of 12,000 that they have made NO PROGRESS on turning into fans. That begs for them to change something. I'd just like to see them try a little harder. Or at least different, 'cause what they're doing ain't workin'...

If you can't see the point there... then I can't really give you any arguments that might be of help.
