If you see various members of the Cincinnati football program walking around campus over the next 24 hours breathing into brown paper bags, there's a very good reason for it.
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, starting running back Isaiah Pead left Thursday's practice with a knee injury, and the Bearcats' leading rusher in 2009 was later seen moving about with the assistance of a pair of crutches.
While the new head coach Butch Jones' hope is that it's simply a bruise, an MRI will be performed to learn the extent of the damage to the knee.
Barring a relatively unexpected development, Pead will likely be held out of Saturday's spring game.
Pead's 809 yards and nine rushing touchdowns led the Bearcats last season, so if the injury is significant it could potentially put a good-sized dent in UC's rushing attack.
