Sycamore Proud

The Nicks Level
I have never in my life met a BSU "person" who knew, or would ad,ot knowing, the roots of Ball State started at the Indiana State University. Not only did they name their school after a family working with fruits and vegetates, they owe their very existence to Indiana State.

The short version goes like this:
The Eastern Division was created in 1918 in the building of the old Muncie Institute in Muncie, Indiana. The Eastern division became Ball State Teachers College in 1929 when Indiana State Normal became Indiana State Teachers College. The Indiana State Teachers College Board of Trustees governed both colleges until 1961.

ISU East

The Ball State yearbook is called "The Orient". The name originated from the Masonic phrase, "Look to the East". Muncie being east of Terre Haute and Masonry being strong at the time the name was appropriate. Having collected all the ISU yearbooks from 1913 it's noted in past editions and has been confirmed by BSU archivist. The last ISU yearbook was published in 1993.

No respect from the offspring............

I tell the BS teachers here that their school came from good breeding stock.......

I simply tell ANY BS student that they need to 'man up and attend the REAL campus, the FLAGSHIP campus... in Terre Haute.'

I get A LOT of blank stares; shoot even that campus in Evansville doesn't tell/admit that they're ALSO a regional campus.
