Well, last year we played at their place and stomped the Bulldogs 20-7 in what was both a breakout game and a collegiate debut for Indianapolis area native Jake Hartley. Hartley went three for four with two homers...one of them a grand slam and drove in eight runs on the day. Like today's game it was a Johnny All Staff affair using 10 ISU pitchers!

This evening at 6:00 (ET), Butler comes to Bob Warn Field and let's hope Hartley remembers what he did last year!

Gametime weather looks to be mostly sunny and windy. Gametime temps will be near 60-degrees with a stiff west-northwest breeze blowing out to right and center fields at about 20 miles per hour. Keep the ball down ISU pitchers!

Butler brings a 7-8 record with them down Interstate 70 to Terre Haute on Wednesday, going 1-3 on the road, 4-4 at neutral sites and 2-1 in Indianapolis. The Bulldogs return to Indiana after playing their last seven games in Winter Haven, Fla., during the past week, going 3-4 in their time in the South. Butler's last game in Florida came against Bradley, with the Braves coming out on top by an 8-5 score.

Butler last played on March 19th, so they come in with well-rested arms. As a team, BU is hitting .278 this season while their pitching rotation checks in with a 7.33 team ERA. Individually, the Bulldogs are led by sophomore Andrew Eckhardt, who brings a .378 (17-for-45) batting average into the game. Senior Michael Letzter leads the team with three home runs in 2011, while freshman Zach Sizemore tops the roster with 12 RBIs.

Starting things off on the mound today for The Sycamores with be RHP Blake Drake (1-2, 5.50 ERA). BU is scheduled to throw sophomore RHP Kyle Kramp (1-1, 13.50 ERA). Drake will continue to work on his pitch placement and ball comtrol and avoiding free bases. Kramp has just 8.2 innings under his belt in three appearances. He has given up 13 earned runs and 13 walks! He, I'm sure is working on his pitch placement and ball control, too! He has an opposing batting average or .342.

Today's game will be available on-line on WISU, through Twitter and live stats service is available.

Went to the game yesterday. Was impressed by the freshman Lefties Negele and Kuhlman. Both were at or above 90mph several pitches. I'd like to see those 2 get more innings.

Final score...ISU wins 15-3!

Windy and cold this weekend at Champaign as ISU takes on Illinois. Looking for highs near 40 and a chance of rain Friday and Saturday. The Fightin' Illini are 6-10 on the season and appear to be having a rough start to the season based on the competition they have faced so far. Should be a pretty even playing field this weekend.
