An update on ISU graduate Chelsea Buher. In what is usually unheard of, the Community Unit School District #20 school board hired Chelsea as a Physical Education teacher at Parkview Junior High at their board meeting in Feb. 2012...pending graduation/certification. Of course this transpired and she was then hired as Asst. Volleyball Coach at Lawrenceville High School. Just last night the School Board acted again by naming Buher as Asst. Girls Basketball Coach at Lawrenceville High School. I believe she is also interested in the open softball assistant job. Can this all be topped??? Perhaps not topped but equalled...two weeks ago Chelsea Buher was named to the Lawrenceville High School Sports Hall of Fame. Buher is not only the first woman to be inducted, but also is the youngest and quickest to be inducted (you have to be out of school for 5 years). She joins the likes of ISU Graduate and Terre Haute native Coach Ron Felling, Marty Simmons, Jay Shidler, Dennis Shidler, and Doug Novsek. Induction ceremony is Sat. September 29 at the Lawrenceville High School gym. Doors open at 6 with the ceremony to take place at 7 cst. Tickets are $10.00. Another interesting note, Terre Haute resident E.V. "Curly" Halt is also being inducted as a Coach. He was a supporter of Coach Wiedie and often carried on conversations with the Coach about Chelsea.
