Reading the tribstar story today it sounds like the defense is going to be a horrible mess as usual. Nice to know we have solid RBs, but if the D can't stop anyone it's going to be another long season.

With the utter devastation that Miles was left with, we can expect another long season. Anything else would be icing on the cake. Trent needs a couple of years to get good recruiting classes in here, and then we'll be fine. You can't turn the Titanic on a dime, however, so give him time.

Miles was the right hire for the program and will get ISU football turned back around but it won't happen overnight. It's great that there is finaly a buzz about ISU football this season and the fans are excited but remember what Trent was left with, a program that has won one game in two years and gave up like 50pts a game last season. It's going to take a couple of seasons before we turn the program around....be patient and supportive because the future is FAR better than what the past has been.

I agree that the defense has certainly struggled the last couple of years. However, do not blame the defense for all the problems.
For those of you that have attended ISU games over the last couple seasons, you know that the defense is usually on the field 75% of the game. The Offense would routinely go 3 and out. The defense never had much time to rest. Not to mention, every time the defense made a nice stop, they only got to rest for 4 plays. Not only is that physically tough, it's mentally devistating. That plus no depth, equals struggling defensive play.
We will get better!
