The Captain Level
I spent some time in the last two weeks watching the semis and finals of several conferences I just never watched before.
The Wofford vs Furman game was great. Both of these teams looked really good to me. Wofford upset SoCon regular season champ Furman in the title game and I think they are a dangerous team but I believe they got Tennessee which might be a bridge too far for them. But if I were coaching, I wouldn't want to be playing a sharp shooting, good ball handling & passing team like Wofford.
Also, I saw Yale several times as it tried to complete an undefeated IVY League season (it failed, losing to Harvard in the final game of the regular season.) It hosted and won the Ivy Tournament. The team has size, toughness, a star player and experience in the NCAA. As Coach James Jones said in the press conference after the tourney "There will be a lot of coaches relieved when they see that Yale is not their first round opponent." (FYI - last year Yale knocked off Auburn in the opening round).
The WCC with Gonzaga and SMC are in a different class in terms of recognition.
I missed the Mountain West and I didn't quite know what to make of the Big West tournament. It just looked 'softer' and not as aggressive on the defensive end.
