Eastern Illinois ranked No. 3

Remember that conversation from earlier this year about who our rivals should be and who we should be playing?

Eastern Illinois, our oldest rival, closest FCS opponent and the team we haven't played in about five years now, is ranked no. 3 in this week's FCS poll.

EIU is the school we should be playing for multiple reasons, including the fact that they have a great program again.

You bet we should be playing them. We should playnthem in all sports including basketball. Its a natural rivalry and it should get played up.

By what standard? They appear better than any team we've fielded in recent years and capable of beating anyone in the MVC save for probably NDSU and UNI. They almost beat Northern Illinois in Dekalb and have scored 40 or more in just about every game.

Well here's why I think they are overrated: they are rated #3. You have given me 2 teams in The MVC that should beat them. I think NIU is also overrated even being #23 in the country since their 6-0 record has impressive wins over nobody. EIU has an overtime win over SIU who not being in the top #20 you would think would be easier to beat. They had a win over IL St that was comparable to the YSU win over them. They are also going to be able to win a weak conference that has won 1 playoff game since 1996. I'm predicting they will go 11-1 and probably win their 1st round playoff game. I think they are probably closer to #10 than they are #3.

I'm not comparing them to us. We are not good.

I'm watching their game too, I've had that post open all day and kept getting distracted and didn't finish it but now I've had time.

They had a big "take pictures at businesses all over town with people wearing blue" promotion and when they came around asking courthouse employees to participate they were stunned that I refused.

Yes they did make the playoffs. They got the autobid from a conference that regularly is in the conversation as to whether they should get an autobid. SEMO is not very good.

No need to go back and forth on it. My point was they're a legitimate FCS team and we should be playing them. I think clearly we should.

Agreed. Maybe I'm too sensitive living in Charleston for 13 years and having to hear how "good" they are all the time
