Credit where credit is due. He’s earned a modest extension. No need to handicap him on the recruiting trail any more than we already do. The team could have folded after falling to 7-7. They didn’t. He gets the shit when things go wrong, it’s time to give him his due when things go right.

The core of a pretty good team is coming back, potentially for several more years. He put this thing together, let’s let him coach it.

I like this assistant staff right now. Seems like we've mixed some things up this year and not quite so predictable. Wondering if Richardson is the difference?

I would say a 2 year extension and more money for the program.

I agree. He has earned it this year. Even if we lose on Friday I will be disappointed if he does not get an extension. He's got us going in the right direction again.

I really thought we would lose 3 of our final 4 games after the MSU loss and since then we have been playing our best ball of the year and have won 4 straight. Can't ask for much more as a fan.

I'm impressed with how we've finished the season. We did it right for a change. We were, talent wise, the third best team in conference when we first moved into third after the Loyola win, and we managed to get back there (we never should have dropped three in a row, but that's beside the point now). I'm happy with how Lansing has turned things around. Get to Saturday and I'll be OK with a two year extension, but I'd like to see us carry this momentum farther than that. Get to the championship game and no doubt he deserves a two year extension.

What is pretty remarkable is that we start TWO true freshmen and have little front court depth. Remember, we lost Brinkmeyer early on and Agbo later. I want to see this group accomplish more in St. Louis. I hope they play to their potential. As far as next year is concerned, I hear Hankins is pretty darn good too!!

I believe Jake Odum has a lot to do with it to as a volunteer assistant. I knew Richardson was a great hire after Belcher left. Brett Carey is a workaholic. He’s got good and capably assistants, but Jake has a hand in this. Was never a fan of Belcher.

Agree, ISU needs to something to counter the negative recruiting

THE NEGATIVE RECRUITING. Hmmm. What in the world are you talking about? Since you're a DATA MINER, you must have some evidence of this?

Is this NEGATIVE RECRUITING against us, a conspiracy with sports personalities on ESPN, and other MVC schools, or what? Fill us in, please.

It’s chatter among college coaches when discussing ISU on the recruiting trail. Published in the Kravitz piece. And it’s common sense. Coaches will try and dissuade a kid from ISU by saying Lansing will be gone. His rollover is canceled and he has no deal and will be a lame duck in the summer of 2020. Stuff like that.

An extension ends this talk and is badly needed. Clink announced the funds from the big upcoming Day of Giving/Give to Blue on March 11 will go to coaching salaries. I just hope he doesn’t use it as an excuse if they only raise 100k or so and then tell Lansing that’s all they can afford. That’s just my little conspiracy theory though.

As we speak, McKee, Curtis and some BOT’s better be doing their job and taking a long, hard look at the entire ISU budget and finally finding some money for ISU basketball. It’s time.

It's fairly common practice for rival coaches to use contract status, age against peer coaches. It's nothing new.

U seem angry Curt, why is that? 18 win season have you down?

Fortunate to have Lansing as the Sycs Head Coach!

Where is hoopsclam? Oh hoopsfan!

You want my opinion? Lansing has held ISU hostage to a stupid contract & still hostage for next season barring an unforeseen miracle buyout or he finds a new gig. Let him play it out if he wants until it expires. THEN talk any extension (damned sure not 5 yrs roll-over) or he can"hit the road Jack, Greg whoever".

That Kravitz piece was just what Lansing told him & to reiterate it was total bull****; a sympathy woe is me ploy. He will have more of them too. Some really good coaches at P5 level have recently & some and still do work year-to-year and they bring in some damned good recruits year after year.
