A schedule review for the eight remaining playoff teams: All 8 remaining teams were national seeds playing home games in the last round. It really does appear that the rankings are meaningful this year.

#1 Montana State: 7-0 at home; 6-0 on road; Road win over FBS New Mexico 35-31 in season opener. New Mexico went 5-7.
#2 NDSU: 11-2 with road losses to South Dakota 28-29 and a road loss to Colorado 26-31. Colorado went 9-3 in Big 12 play.
#3 SDSU: 11-2 with road losses to NDSU 9-13 and to Oklahoma State 44-20.
#4 South Dakota: 10-2 with a 27-13 loss at Wisconsin (which narrowly lost to #1 Oregon 13-16 ) and SDSU in OT 20-17.
#5 UC Davis: 11-2 with a narrow 28-30 loss to #1 Seed Montana State and a road loss to ACC Foe Cal Berkley 13-31.
#6 Incarnate Word: 11-2 with a blowout loss to SDSU 24-45 and a road loss 28-35 at SIU before it was severely crippled by injuries.
#7 Mercer: 12-1 with a blowout loss to Alabama 52-7
#8 Idaho: 10-3; Lost on road to #1 FBS Seed Oregon 24-14; Beat FBS Wyoming on road 17-13; Lost to #5 seed UC Davis 28-30 on the road and to #1 FCS Seed Montana State in Bozeman 38-7. Won 7 games by 10 points or less. Will be a definite underdog to Mt State in the rematch but this is a dangerous team.

I suspect the national title will be between Montana State and whoever wins the hypothetical SDSU vs NDSU semifinal game; but you never know, that's why they play the games. I can't give a good answer on who I think will come out on top between those three schools.

The UC Davis @ S Dakota game should be a fantastic matchup. I think MSU and SDSU win fairly easily in their rematches. I also think Mercer will keep things competitive with NDSU, but I think playing in Fargo is just too much to overcome.

Idaho vs MSU will be Friday night (should be on ESPN or ESPN2), while the other three matchups will be on Saturday.

Point Spreads for the upcoming games. Seeds 1-4 host seeds 8-5 respectively.

FCS games are seeing wider point spreads than the SEC Invitational Tournament, Three remaining MVFC teams are playing at home and are considerable favorites.
When I was reading up on UC Davis, the article declared the Big Sky "the premier FCS conference". I knew Cannabis was popular out west, but I did know it had such effect on logical thinking. But it also has three teams remaining in the playoffs but two face each other this weekend.

Idaho getting 14.5 points versus #1 Montana State. O/U = 52.5
Montana State is just an exciting offensive powerhouse team.

Incarnate Word getting 18.5 points versus SDSU. Defending champs are a prohibitive favorite. O/U = 54.5
SDSU Senior QB Mark Gronowski has won every FCS Offensive award and will probably be one of the first QB's taken during the NFL draft.

Mercer getting 23.5 versus NDSU. Wow. Mercer not getting much respect for this game in 72' comfort in the Fargo Dome. O/U = 53.5
NDSU QB Cam Miller was a 3 Star Recruit coming out of HS. He has broken most of NDSU's passing records set by NFL Draft picks Carson Wentz and Trey Lance.

#5 UC Davis getting 4.5 versus South Dakota Coyotes. O/U = 57.5
As it should be, the 4 vs 5 game is forecasted to be tight. The UC Davis Aggies are the agriculturally focused part of the UC system.

MT State won easily last night. SDSU defeated UIW 55-14.

NDSU up 21-7 on Mercer in the 2nd Q.
USD up 21-14 on UC Davis in the 3rd Q.

Finals: All three MVFC teams register home-field wins. The final 4 is now Big Sky Champ and #1 seed Montana State and the top three teams in the MVFC.

Montana State 52 vs Idaho 19
The game was tied at 10 midway through the second quarter after an Idaho TD. The Vandals tried an onside kick as a surprise but failed to recover it. Montana State quickly scored. On its next possession, Idaho was moving the ball at about its own 40 when a receiver of a short swing pass banged into his offensive lineman and fumbled. Montana State took advantage and quickly scored again making it 24-10. Just before halftime, MtSt had another TD to make it 31-10 and it was just about the final score at that point. QB "Touchdown Tommy" Mellot threw for 174 yards and ran for 131 yards. Adam Jones had 95 yards rushing and 66 receiving. #1 Seed in the FCS Playoffs, Montana State is now 14-0 and added to its leading 41.3 ppg average.

#4 Seed South Dakota moved to 11-2 with a hard-fought 35-21 win over UC Davis. UC Davis controlled the time of possession but was plagued by SIX turnovers. Honestly, it looked like UC Davis was the superior team except for those 6 turnovers, but South Dakota had three itself I believe. This game was not a thing of beauty.

#2 NDSU 31 vs Mercer 7. This was a grudging wearing down of a gritty opponent by the Bison. NDSU extended a 14-7 first-quarter lead to 24-7 by halftime and held off Mercer in the second half. Those oddsmakers are prescient with a 23.5-point spread!! Cam Miller was great again going 16/25 for 259 yards and 2 TD's and 2 interceptions. The Bison defense STIFLED any Mercer offense holding them to less than 200 yards combined.

#3 Seed SDSU blasted Incarnate Word 55-14. SDSU QB Mark Gronoski was a below average 7/16 for 174 yards, 3 TD's and one interception. The Jackrabbits ran for 273 yards and dominated the game from beginning to end. The two-time defending Natinal Champions will be a very tough out.

That was a fantastic summary of the games. Thank you! I was able to watch part of the NDSU game. I was switching back and forth to the army navy game. Other than ISU games that is my favorite game of the year.
