Just saw that Illinois State is hosting Ball State in 2013 and then going to Muncie in 2014. How did they get to host the Cardinals?

That's a very interesting question. How many 1-A schools play at a 1-AA school? I am sure it is VERY rare. I would suppose they (ILS) PAID for it but I have no idea why BSU would accept that game. Pretty bizarre if you ask me (unless the are considering dropping back to 1-AA and leave the MAC!? That seems unlikely but they are really bad and getting worse.

Ball State has similar problems to the ones we had a few years back.

Or could ILS be thinking about moving up??? Could they possibly meet the higher requirements of 1-A in terms of facilities, attendance etc?

ISU-M won't face the harassment, scrutiny or 'embarassment' if they lose to Illinois State; whereas if they lose to US, the Flagship Campus of The Indiana State University System... it would resonate more loudly

Changing topics a bit...

Anyone else find the description of 'OverThePylon' humorous?

Seriously? ISU-M and UK have contributed THAT MUCH to college football?!?!

Need to send them a note to thank them for a chuckle over lunch

Let's face it. The ILS AD looks like a genius. As said before, how many I-A schools would do that and he found one of a handful that would. If Liberty can beat them in Muncie, the Redbirds have a chance. One sidenote: since both school's helmits are quite similar, it'll look like a practice.

Is Spack a better coach than Parrish?

Stan obviously has "exceeded" his prime. My guess is that Kermit the Frog could coach better than he can. They looked pathetic against Iowa on Saturday. One ironic side note. Those "retro" Iowa uniforms were from 1959 and my dad and I attended a game that year in Iowa City when I lived in the quad city area. Jogged a few memories for me, and it rained that day as well~

That link is two years old.

Illinois State plans to have its stadium remodeled for the Ball State game. I think that's why they anted up to bring in a I-A school.

Two years old, but still relevant and an explanation for why Ball State has gone from playing in bowl games to getting beat to a pulp.
