I'd have to see the numbers...
I wonder if local "campus-to-campus" service will remain?

This made the Indy tv news this morning. I'm too old I guess--I still like a land line that doesn't depend on a battery that would most likely not be charged when I most need it.:imslow:

Simply put, students do not use the phones in their rooms at all. Their is no use whatsoever for the phones in their residence hall rooms. not only do students use their cell phones but they also use Skype and other webbased phones as well. I even came across several students back when I worked there using Vonage. There is simply no need whatsoever for the phone services. Students turn off the ringers anyway because they knew the only person that would be calling that number would be the staff. it is a good move and economical for the students.

Anyone else read Zits??

For the Zits fans --- Jeremy and his buddy Hector are lamenting the NEED to always carry their cell/personal communication device, how unhandy it is, the constant need to charge it. They both agree that 'somebody' should install phones EVERYWHERE and do away with the need to always carry your own; they also both agree that they'd be willing to pay for that service; something modest, 50-75 cents.

Jeremy's father is left flummoxed

:-) I can guarantee you that most of today's youth RARELY have a drained battery... and if it is drained, you can plug it in and use it right away inside the dorm room.

And or they charge it in their car. You have to realize that every student at ISU now must have a laptop...they have to charge that too. And as I said, many, many students use skype and other web based phone systems as well on those laptops. The landline phone is of little use anymore for the traditional aged college student.

I haven't had a landline phone in over 5 years...their is just no use for me and many americans. Look at Magic Jack...that thing can be used by students too. They could pay 19.95 for the year and use that thing on their computer in their room
