In reference to the thread from last week about Indy media coverage.....something about not being able to get stuff in on Indiana State....the whole Gannett thing....West Layettte and Muncie papers.....hmmmm.....

Did anybody notice that Sioux Falls is a Gannett paper? Hmmmm. Instead of running a wire story, and a third story in the state roundup (behind Marian). Hmmmm.

Get your point but it is South Dakota. What else do they have to write about?

I might be mistaken, but I think TJ's point was that the Indy Star should have had more coverage for our game against SDSU because both the SD and Indy papers are owned by Gannett. Therefore, the Star should have had "free" access to a better and more comprehensive story than the brief AP blurb ISU got in the state roundup.

Thanks. I misunderstood. I would guess though that if they can't consistently cover us, they won't at all, but maybe that's just an excuse.

Strike "should have had" and replace with WOULD have had...

letko lifted his skirt last week when he used the 'gannett crutch,'

This WEEK when they would have had gannett folks ON SITE; we get less coverage than Marian! MARIAN!!

Thank you X and 4Q....you got my point!!!!!!

And this week, UNI is covered by the Des Moines Register, which is also a Gannett paper. Wonder if they'll take advantage of it.

Really?? You even ASK the question!?!?

Thanks for the chuckle!!

No, I do not think letko and the IndyStar will take advantage of FREE coverage

The INDYSTAR'S coverage of ISU athletics is simply a form of censorship agonst the school and Terre Haute in general. As with the mainstream national media, a bias exists and they simply want to deliver what THEY want the general public to hear.
I've been away from my Mommies apron strings long enough and to enough county fairs to know that bias and prejudice doesn't exist only with regards to racial issues.
Someone in the sports department of the INDYSTAR could have easily emailed a request to the South Dakota Gannett paper requesting a copy of their coverage. Their failure to do so reinforces my opinion that they have no genuine interest in affording anymore coverage than they absolutely have to toward ISU.........unless it is negative, then you can bar the door Katy, because they will jump on it.
Granted, occasionally they will print a token article to appease complaints about the lack of coverage......otherwise, forget it.
Now I can go about the remainder of my day that I've got that off my chest..until something else comes along that pisses me off.
Off to my dermatologist appointment. When you get my age and you live in FL you have to keep an eye on things that grow on ya down here....and it isn't moss.

Maybe someone will inform the grandpoobahs of the Gannett connection this week.....

or maybe not....lol....

Chief.... you are absolutely on the money with this comment. Indianapolis was the epicenter of racial prejudice and segregation in Indiana well into the late 1960's. Indianapolis schools were segregated, Terre Haute schools were not (not a perfect record by any means, but far better than the Indy schools). Indianapolis was anti-union, Terre Haute and area was a blue-collar union town. And conversely, Terre Haute's wide-open "Sin City" label enabled a lot Indiana power-brokers to look down their snoots at the "Haute".
