ISU Alumnus Rod Fisher, ISU 1972 was inducted into the Ind BBall Hall of Fame; Fisher, is the 2nd winningest head coach in Indiana high school girls basketball history.
Spending 40+ years in the Gary Community School system; 35 years at Gary West, 6 years at Gary Wirt, his team built a 674-210 record (.762) in 41 seasons. His teams won 19 sectionals, three regionals and were the 2005 4A runners-up.
He was awarded numerous Indiana Coach of the Year honors from the Times of Northwest Indiana during his 35-yrs at Gary West; winning sectionals with such regularity that only one four-year player in his program ever graduated without a sectional title.
Fisher was a 1968 graduate of Marion High School, played for Hall of Fame coach Jack Colescott; he lettered 4 years in baseball.
