Yeah........tell them Butler isn't the only team in the area.

Just checked the Indy area TV home pages

Only channel 13 mentioned the MVC title.***
Channel 59 shows the Trees beating the Shockers to advance.
Channel 6 had NO mention at all.
Channel 8 had NO mention at all--sister station 23, nothing.

Needless to say all mentioned Butler playing for the Horizon League title on Tuesday.

*** nice job by 13!

Surprise of the day--nothing from the Star.

there was a small story on indiana state's win over wichita state....

in sunday's indy star....it was placed under the story of ball state's win.....but there is nothing on the indy star website right now about the sycamores winning the mvc tournament......we'll see how much play it gets in monday morning's indy star though.....

Right, 2 or 3 paragraphs is better than nothing. And the score was in a bold font.

I would be shocked if it didn't make the Indy sports shows on all three (four) major stations. Let's face it, it IS a big story. 13 will likely continue to plug us the most but they usually do. I have said it before but the TV coverage back in 99-00 was not great but it was OK and I suspect they will jump on the bandwagon a bit this time around. With the possibility of 4-5 teams in the state making the tourney, our chances improve as well. As for the Star, well it SUCKS and other than one feature article most likely, their coverage will be not acceptable and below par as always.

Indy Star has an AP story on its website about winning MVC but you have to click on the "Indiana State" link in the "State Colleges" section to find it. Nothing on the home sports page.

On air TV coverage was there I believe--didn't get to watch 59. But this deserves it all, air and web. The Star, well you know it is bad.

This is RIDICULOUS!

It's bad enough that the Valley crown is not mentioned in Indy home pages; but in the Haute also? There is no mention of Valley champs on the WTWO, channel 2 in Terre Haute home page. Click "Top Sports Stories" and find 1 win away from NCAA.

Is this sad or what???

As I said earlier, the media will find a place in their hearts (and the sportscasts) for some Sycamore love. They'd be stupid to ignore us. It has NEVER been because they don't like us, it's because for almost a decade, we have accomplished squat. The times they are-a-changing.

from talking to people at the indy star and the indy tv stations.....

the feedback that i get from them is that they dont concern themselves with indiana state as much because they dont hear anything from isu fans during the season.....or at all for that matter.....several of them tease me all the time....when i wear isu stuff at the colts complex or at a colts game......and i try to joke with them about it.....but their feeling is that there is no interest out there from their readership or viewing audience.....to devote any or much time to stuff on indiana state.......

if isu fans want to read and see stuff in the indy media, they need to raise their voices....or write/email the people at the outlets.....complaining here doesnt do anything....just complaining to the choir.....gripe to the people that actually are in charge.....

I still say that it is a matter of what TJames is saying and the fact that Terre Haute has its own media outlets in terms of a newspaper and 2 television stations. Indy doesn't cover it because Indy doesn't need to.

They are going to cover butler because butler is located 15 blocks north of the studio and about 30 blocks north of the Star. That simple.

St. Louis papers typically don't cover Missouri State because it is in Springfield. it is the same here.

ISU fans could make some noise, they could complain but I know those complaints and suggestions fall on deaf ears. They will start coving ISU if ISU keeps winning in all sports like has occured this year. That simple. If ISU goes into the NCAA and wins a game or two or even goes beyond that (I truly think they can), then we will get the coverage, but if we go back next year, if football wins this coming year and does well the coverage will start to change. That simple,

We did get good Indy TV coverage last night! We did have a nice photo on the front page of the Star sports section with a good story.

We're all over the sports radio as well. As promised, we will be wearing Cinderella's shoes for a week or so. The only TV sports show I couldn't watch last night was Channel 8 due to the pricing dispute with Dish Net, but 13 and 6 did a pretty good job of covering everything.

They all (6, 8, 13, 59) did a good job Bally. FINALLY, they all did.
I'll also give credit to the Star--front page of sports, nice photo and story.

I really don't think anyone believed me when I said they will treat us well for the next week or so. Playing in the big dance earns immediate respect around here and they were just like this 10-11 years ago. It's nice and refreshing. Dakich is very positive as were Grady and Joe earlier. JMV will pass out some love as well.

Our (fans) long term project is to congratulate the Indy media for good coverage during this time, and to convey to them that we expect good coverage from them in the future. If we pressure them, do you think we will get coverage on par with Ball State. Butler is home town--pains me, but just for that reason they will get very good coverage in Indy.

Maybe we just need to be the squeaky wheel....
