The problem with our passing game comes down to the lack of speed. We don’t have anyone that stretches the field. Have you seen Van Dyne get desperation down field this season? Can’t think of a single instance.
Not really. Just conclude Mallory is just not Head Coach material. He might get lucky recruiting, but most of his players are not talented to play at this level. Just a shame we have to deal with this guy for another 5 years. Fans are going to resent him collecting money ISU doesn’t have to pay him for this disastrous spectacle.

The offense is a huge problem but I stand by my observation that our lacking a deep threat allows the defense to stack the box against the run. Not saying this is the only problem but is a significant one.
No, I didn’t imply that. Forget the threat down field. Dink and dunk 5 yarders, slants, get The Free up on the line to mix it up. Chambers stares down his receiver, and that’s how he gets Triple coverage. Watching what The Free is at is part of the whole play being successful. Get a guy in the flat especially when they come creeping up to the box. All these mental fundamentals are discussed during film watching. He’s not getting it, and the play calling with the fake blitzes are the main reason for the turnovers,

The few times I've seen us go deep this season we've had huge gains because the opposing defenses just don't expect it. Our depth at WR is concerning, and I don't think our o-line necessarily pass blocks all that great either. I think DyedBlue has mentioned that we rarely ever use the TE's in the passing game which also makes no sense.
It's too late in the season to change much of anything now. At this point in the season all I care about is beating Western Illinois and getting a win. The offense needs to be addressed in a very serious way this off-season.

Of course the short game is always part of the overall offense, don’t disagree. But when the defense doesn’t have to be concerned about a deep threat where do the safeties play? 5 to 7 yard s off the LOS, right in the short passing game sweet spots. The corners can play on the LoS because they aren’t concerned about a deep threat and are in position to react to any pass in the flats. If the defense doesn’t have to be concerned about defending the entire field, the offense is at a huge disadvantage.
96 is right about changing things up at this stage of the game, but if the QB is running for his life, get the ball out of his hands with short passes can hopefully move the chains, and eat some clock. Especially if you’re not getting your running game going.
The coaching and players are just not talented to play at this level. Mallory just needs to be on a staff where he’s coaching Linebackers, and give this pipe dream up.
