Expected to start for the Sycamores is Joe Rodriguez (1-0) who had a rough outing in his first start last week but thanks to a strong offensive outburst, got the win. Game One is expected to be seven innings.

Expected to start Game Two will be Jason Van Skike (1-0) who was the MVC's Pitcher of the Week this past week for a masterful 5.1 innings in relief.

Game One will be seven innings and gets underway at 3:00 (ET). Game two will be nine innings and is scheduled to start at 5:30 (ET). The temperature at the start of game one is expected to be 66 under sunny skies. Game two's game time temp is expected to be 67. Winds, which were gusty last night, are expected to be light.

The announcer said that Sunday's contest has been moved up an hour and will now start at 12:00 (ET). I suppose it will provide more padding for the flight home.

In the third, Strausborger went above the center field wall to pick off a home run! Rodriguez left the ball up again and the next batter hit one off the wall. Then an error on second baseman Grgrurich--ball through the legs--allowed run to score from second.

After three. UTSA leads 1-0 on an unearned run.

With two outs in the 5th, Rodriguez gave up two walks and two singles to score three runs. Harlan comes in for Rodriguez to get final out. Harlan picked runner off first. Score, UTSA 4-0. Three earned on five hits.

Three up/three down in UTSA bottom half of 6th. ISU got a couple of people on with one out in top of seventh. UTSA starter then was replaced. Reliever got a strikeout and then Ort came in to pitch-hit and got an RBI single.Straus walked and Graham came up with bases loaded and two outs. Straus walked and Graham came up with bases loaded and two outs. Graham singled to drive in run number two. Liniger fouled out to the first baseman.

Final score UTSA 4, ISU 2. ISU got seven hits. UTSA had just five hits, a couple of walks and a costly ISU error. Straus walked and Graham came up with bases loaded and two outs.

Next game to start at about 5:30 (ET). Looks like it will be live stats only from UTSA baseball site. The UTSA site shows an audio broadcast for Sunday's game which the announcer said was moved up an hour to 12 Noon (ET). HOWEVER, the announcer seemed to indicate that tomorrow's game would be live stats only...so we'll have to wait and see.

So where is the offense that scored 40 runs in three games last weekend. So far, just four runs this weekend...all coming in ISU's last at-bat of each game. Time for a change in game three! Be aggressive and provide support for your pitchers!

We got a run in the third inning. No we don't have any hits yet, but Straus was hit by a pitch, stole 2nd, advanced to third on a groundout and came home on an error! Hey, we're ahead aren't we? And it is not even the last inning. This could be the start of something good.

Lead short-lived. A single and two walks loaded the bases...and another single drove in two runs. Another score on a wild pitch. UTSA leads 3-1 after three innings.

In the 4th, we got a walk, a single, a sac bunt, a sacrifice fly and a single to score two runs. Score tied 3-3. In the UTSA half of the inning, they got a single and a double resulting in another run to go ahead 4-3 after four.

Top of 6th, we got a walk to Pearson...advanced on a balk...followed by another walk to Lucas and a second pitching change for UTSA. Runners advance on a sac bunt by Ferrell. Strausborger doubled driving in Pearson and Lucas! Graham dove in Straus with a double. Score 6-4 in favor of ISU! Now this is more like it!

Scored tied 6-6 in bottom of 6th. Stenftenagel (junior transfer) started inning in place of Van Skike. UTSA got a single and a two-run homer to tie the score. Despite getting runners at 2nd and 3rd in the top of the seventh, we couldn't drive them in. Ties 6-6 in middle of 7th. Brandon Flora coming in for Sycs to pitch bottom of 7th. Flora , on three pitches, got a quick ground-out and fly-out...followed by a single and a ground-out. Tied at 6 after 7 innings.

In top of 8th, Straus singled...advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch and advanced to 3rd on a sac bunt by Graham. Runner at third, one out. Liniger fouled out to right field and Strausborger scored! BUT, that's not all! Fieser singled, stole second and was driven in by a single from Burnam! Then Burnam was driven in from 1st on a double by Ort. ISU up 9-6 in the middle of the 8th.

Bottom of 8th...UTSA got a single...Flora replaced with Merkley. Merkley gave up a double and two walks. Run scored. Merkley replaced by Lininger at P. Liniger gave up a grand salami. UTSA scores 5 runs to go ahead 11-9 after 8 innings. Just when you thought it was safe to go into the water...

Sunday's finale is being moved up an hour to 12:00 Noon (ET). It will be available on Live Stats through the UTSA baseball web site. The site also shows a live audio broadcast, but that is questionable based on what the announcer said during today's first game. So, keep your fingers crossed. Tomorrow's starting pitcher is expected to be Blake Drake with Mann as the first reliever I imagine.
