It wasn't to be today for ISU as before a national TV audience they just couldn't find their stride at the plate or on the mound.

Torgerson started for ISU and gave up five runs (three earned) in 2.2 innings of work. Six ISU relievers finished the game with a pretty effect day. Fehringer gave up one run and Browning gave up two in just a third of an inning.

From the plate, ISU was anemic, getting just six hits--all singles. And they got on base additionally on three walks

The Sycamores came into the weekend batting .328 and after today, have dropped below .319. Overall, they came into today's game batting a weak .230 in eight previous Valley conference games. That number, too, will drop after today's game..

ISU is off-balance in conference play. They are relying on great starting pitchers to get the wins. We don't seem to have our bats in gear for the MVC games. To wind long-term...we need to get our bats to work in conference play...preferably a .290 or better average.

maybe they can win & collect a bunch of hits against IU Weds., then have that carry over into the Bradley series next weekend. After that the next 13 or so games are all in Terre Haute.

Bradley took 2 of 3 from Missouri State this weekend. We better get the bats going again if we want 2 or a series sweep in Peoria next weekend. Bradley Won 2-1, Lost 2-12 & Won 4-3.

GO SYCAMORES!
