What if they had a couple of ISU games and you had no way to hear, read about or see them? That is the case today as the doubleheader, which gets underway at Noon (EST), will not be on radio or live stats. We'll just have to wait for the wrap-up story from gosycamores.com and the box scores!
BUT, perhaps someone will be reporting at least the in-progress scores to www.d1baseball.com.
After a disappointing weekend against Dallas Baptist in which Sycamore pitchers allowed 35 runs (28 earned), they will see if they can change their ways against University of Tennessee today. RHP Colin Rea will face UTM's RHP Dan Tobik in game one. Tobik allowed one earned run over six inning with just four hits allowed. But, he gave up five walks. In game two, ISU's RHP Jason Van Skike will faceoff against RHP Danny Kelley. Kelley, last week, pitched seven scoreless innings, scattering just four hits. However, he did give up five walks and hit one batter. It appears, one has a better chance of being walked by these opposing pitchers than getting a hit!
As a team, the Hawks are 1-3 so far, but their pitchers are stingy, with an ERA of just 2.65. Their batters are off to a slow start, with a .237 average and an obp of .247.
The key today is our pitching. we have to settle into a positive groove. And, we have to break through with hits to bust what, at least initially, appears to be a stingy couple of starters.
Be sure to check out ISU's "Baseball Weekly Release" for a LOT of good info on the Sycamores and the Hawks:
