What if they had a couple of ISU games and you had no way to hear, read about or see them? That is the case today as the doubleheader, which gets underway at Noon (EST), will not be on radio or live stats. We'll just have to wait for the wrap-up story from gosycamores.com and the box scores!

BUT, perhaps someone will be reporting at least the in-progress scores to www.d1baseball.com.

After a disappointing weekend against Dallas Baptist in which Sycamore pitchers allowed 35 runs (28 earned), they will see if they can change their ways against University of Tennessee today. RHP Colin Rea will face UTM's RHP Dan Tobik in game one. Tobik allowed one earned run over six inning with just four hits allowed. But, he gave up five walks. In game two, ISU's RHP Jason Van Skike will faceoff against RHP Danny Kelley. Kelley, last week, pitched seven scoreless innings, scattering just four hits. However, he did give up five walks and hit one batter. It appears, one has a better chance of being walked by these opposing pitchers than getting a hit!

As a team, the Hawks are 1-3 so far, but their pitchers are stingy, with an ERA of just 2.65. Their batters are off to a slow start, with a .237 average and an obp of .247.

The key today is our pitching. we have to settle into a positive groove. And, we have to break through with hits to bust what, at least initially, appears to be a stingy couple of starters.

Be sure to check out ISU's "Baseball Weekly Release" for a LOT of good info on the Sycamores and the Hawks:

Weather today is ideal in Martin, TN. with partly cloudy skies and a high of 61 degrees. Winds will generally be light from the south.

As of 2:00 p.m. (EST), still no updates on the first game. Like playing a game in a vacuum sealed jar in this day of technology!

Yupp. 17-3. DBU pitchers gave up 11 walks and hit 7 batters! Free on-base passes kill a team! But, obviously, that was just part of their problem! And, DBU committed 4 fielding errors to boot (pun intended!)

Thanks rgd and Danny for the updates. Sounds thus far that they have rebounded from opening weekend blues. Moving in the right direction! Go TREES!

Look at the play-by-play posted above and note that: (1) All three ER Rea gave up were in the first. He was lights out for next seven innings; (2) Six of ISU's 11 runs came in a 9th inning barrage, capped off by a three-run triple by Ferguson!

Sycamores are up 3-0 in the 3rd (in game two). No other details.

A reminder that Sunday's game WILL be broadcast on the UTM campus radio station, WUTM and is available on-line through the ISU baseball web site. Gametime is 1:00 p.m. ET according to the ISU site and 2:00 p.m. ET according to the UTM site.

What is the correct starting time?? :o

Thanks, ISU Blue. It would be nice if both school's sites would agree! I understand the change in the start time is becasue of impending rain Sunday afternoon...just trying to get the game in before the rain starts! Good luck!
