isu volleyball

as we start a new isu vb season, my wish for this season did not come true. i wanted a player on the isu vb team to be taller and a better player at her young age than the head coach is now. don't believe that is the case...
goal should be getting into mvc playoffs, but just don't see it

Obviously, good coach or not, VB is a tough sell for high school recruiting when you are an average team or less. Since RP has hired good people, I trust Coach Dahl is the right kind of coach we need. I DO like the promotion of the team that I have seen and the team chemistry, from what I can see on the surface, also looks good. The improvements to their facility (the old arena) FINALLY with AC and a new playing surface can only help the team as well. Volleyball has always been a favorite of mine and I am tracking them closely. My guess is that we are another year out, similar to where soccer might be. Again, RP's track record tells me he has a good coach. Only time will tell if he has a GREAT coach.

volleyball, soccer, and softball have struggled immensely the past few years, hopefully within a year or 2 all 3 are more competitive in MVC play. RP does seem to have the right people in place though.

I don't think these programs have been consistently strong, but keep in mind that soccer played in the MVC championship game two seasons ago (Fall 2008) and softball played in the MVC semi-finals two seasons ago (Spring 2009). That's more than can be said for many of our programs.

I probably would have been better off saying that they've struggled in "regular season MVC play" the past few years, it'd be nice to see these 3 teams get into the upper echelon of the standings during the regular season.

the women start off the season with a 3-1 win over SIU-Edwardsville, so good to get that first win of the season
