I see this as a long-shot, at best. Iowa State has experienced too much success recently to pluck Lansing from the mid-major ranks. I think they're exhausting all other avenues first.

I think Lansing is a fantastic and underrated head coach, but this is just too big for him right now.

That would be South Dakota. He is from DesMoines though and was an assistant at Iowa.

I agree that it's too big of a jump. Iowa State has money to throw at some coaches with higher profiles.
 
Would hate to see him leave BUT if he gets the Ames or Iowa City job in the near future, I won't be shocked.

He's not leaving us for a lateral move, it's stay in place or a truly better (i.e. $$$$, Conference, ease of Recruiting) job

Pretty much agree with everyone. If he ever gets an offer from iowa state or iowa he is gone...and who can blame him. They can throw out a lot of money for a "bigger" name than Lansing right now.
 
The Lansing team, coach and Angie, have a pretty nice gig @ ISU. You won't find many, if any, similar situations in the NCAA;there may be a couple, but I'm not aware of any. Much depends on how firmly their feet are implanted in T.H. and the Sycamore culture.

But it's not too big for Valpos Bryce Drew, right?

I know you didn't mention him, but a school like Iowa State doesn't care where they 'pluck' their next coach from, they just want someone who can win.

In categories of winning Sycamore Pride posts....such as Most Brilliant, Most Creative, Most Thankable, Most Insightful, Most In-Depth, etc. etc. with just this one, twelve word sentence...you just created a torrent of new categories.

They are Most Blue (and not Sycamore Blue), Most Eccentric, Most Down-In-Dumps, Most Feminine, Most Tragic, and finally Most Despondent.

And so far, for 2015....you've got my vote for 1st Place in all of the aforementioned.

Gee-whillickers....I can't get your post out of my dang head...I think I'm going to go drown myself in some other reading like the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, or War and Peace....
