The All-MVC Level
Feel free to rip this apart. I had a couple of free hours this afternoon and wanted to use the excellent PDF files provided to look for particularly effective player groupings.
The starting lineup is unchanged the last four games; therefore, "Starters = Larry, Neese, Henry, McCauley, Avila.
I looked at combinations used that constituted at least 32 minutes/game. That carries the data down to 2 minutes or less of game time together. So, if a player was on the floor for less than 2 minutes at a time, then he doesn't appear in this (Martin for example)
I am searching for some patterns in the data.
The closest thing I have found is that our offense in terms of Points Per Possession (PPM) seems better when both Avila and McCauley are on the floor and this seems a bit independent of who the other three players may be.
Also, with only two starters on the floor, our performance in terms of PPM is much better with McCauley in the game.
Of course, there are groupings with very bad and very good numbers outside of that situation; however, the evidence does seem to indicate we need to find a way to get more minutes with both players on the floor simultaneously.
As I recall, Schertz has said the goal in modern basketball is to be at least 1.0 PPP.
