Lindenwood has a bit of a history of overstepping their reach - a few years ago they opened a large campus in Belleville, Illinois on the grounds of the old Belleville West High school campus. The city invested quite a bit in infrastructure and gave them sweetheart deals on the purchase of the buildings. After three or four years, Lindenwood bailed on the whole deal and shut down the campus on short notice, leaving students, staff and the city with the crappy end of the stick. Not sure if this translates to their athletic move, but leaves me with some questions on their financial ability to carry this off.

Believe it or not, Lindenwood already has the highest athletic budget in the OVC according to this video. I believe that includes hockey though since their football budget was slightly below the existing football members, and their basketball budget was also lower.

Have they announced how many current athl programs they intend to shutter to fund this move?

if they keep their current numbers and provide the ncaa allowable, they need the $$ to add 79 scholies

fcs football is 63 scholies, div ii is 36

isu-evansville will need to fund an additional 24 scholies

seems apparent, the ncaa is no longer interested if transitioning schools can actually AFFORD a move in classifications
